Day 3 - Sunday, September 9, 2001

Well, every day is not complete without its challenges. On Day 3, JK forgot to put the digital film in his camera so there are no photos. Mea culpa.

Cary Audio Design

Cary was displaying a prototype of their upcoming P-7 preamplifier/processor. They expect it to be shipping soon. Available both without and with balanced outputs, the P-7 will retail for $3500 with an additional $500 for the balanced output option.

In addition, they were displaying their new CD 306/200 CD player with integrated upsampling converter to 24bit/192kHz.

They were also displaying their DVD player and a late prototype of their new stereo preamplifier, which includes balanced inputs/outputs and a theater bypass input. Estimated price for this will be US$3000.

Marsh Sound Design

MSD showed their new A450M monoblock amplifiers, which will go for the price of US$5000/channel. In addition they mentioned their P2000 preamplifier will be replaced by a new version with balanced outputs.

Plans for other products including a Home Theater Processor are underway.

Camelot Technology

Camelot had on hand a new digital board for their DAC products. Based on a reference board from Anagram Technologies, it will allow upsampling of 16bit/44.1kHz Redbook CD to 24bit/192kHz. The new board can be installed into existing Roundtable DVD players, Uther and Arthur DACs. Cost will be US$995, and new purchasers can also add this as an option to the previously listed products.

Analysis Plus

Analysis Plus continues to expand their product line, this time into a very affordable price point. Their new products include analog interconnects, S-Video, and speaker cables. All should come in under the US$100 price point.

Fujitsu

Not surprisingly, more plasmas were introduced from Fujitsu. Prices continue to drop on plasmas, but for people that are looking for HDTV in a plasma they're still quit pricey. Models on display ranged from US$5,999 for the entry level 42" 16:9 SDTV, all the way up to US$14,999 for their top of the line HDTV compatible 50" Plasma. Also on display were FPTVs using LCD projection panels.

Furman Sound

Long time professional grade power products provider Furman sound introduced two products for the Home Theater environment, a voltage regulator and a balanced power transformer. Worth consideration in your system if you can afford the pricing ($1,500 and up).
