Day 1 - January 6, 2000

Below you will find a large table with photos and their descriptions (legends) underneath. The photos will be updated throughout each day, so check back often. At the bottom are links to photos from each of the days at the show. Day 0 is the day when the exhibits are being installed, and the equipment photos are previews. The actual show starts on Wednesday, January 6 ("Day 1").

Golden Theater announced their new GT-2000EX Receiver that does DD and DTS 6.1, has 6 x 105 watts of power, 24 bit 192 kHz for all channels, and bass management for multiple frequencies (finally, someone is doing it!) MSRP is $3,000.

Sunfire showed their new surround sound speakers (about 8" high) with dual cones on the side operating at 80 Hz - 200 Hz) and a ribbon on the front for > 200 Hz. $3,500 for a set of five.

M&K introduced their new model 200 speakers that seem to have drivers on just about every surface, for $2,500 the pair.

Mirage has some great looking new speakers that have a dual D'Appolito configuration, meaning that the mids and tweeter are between the two bass drivers, and the tweeter is in between the two mids (tweeter and mids are both titanium domes). The tweeter and mids are diagonal which gives good dispersion regardless of whether the speaker is used for the mains or for the center. Price $1,500 each.

PSB has a terrific looking new line of speakers.

Mirage's new MRM-1 monitor speaker that is made with no compromises anywhere. It weighs 40 pounds due to a Corian front and steel sheets lining the inside of the enclosure. Cherry veneer rounds it out at $2,500/pair.

CES broadcasts HDTV to hotels and the convention center.

Dream Vision DLP (Digital Light Projector).

Perpetual Technologies' new products for adjusting the frequency and phase response of the speakers in your audio system.  They do 96/24 upsampling/resolution enhancement, speaker correction, and room correction.  They are equipped with a USB port to connect to your PC.  All software updates will be via the Internet.

Gallo Speakers Nucleus

Meridian's new center channel, the DSP5500HC (Horizontal Center) speaker.  It is the same weight (179 Pounds) as their DSP5500 and the same dimensions.

PS Audio's new 600 watt version of their Power Plant series.  (It can actually supply 720 watts.)  Unlike the P300, this runs cool even while delivering 700 watts. 

Escient Powerfile 200 DVD-CD changer for 200 discs and has 1394 output. $1,499

Receiver and DVD player connected with IEEE1394 cable. Several manufacturers have signed up to do 1394 links between components. One cable between each piece of equipment is all you will need. Products due out by Christmas 2000. Kiss the cable jungle goodbye! 

Soft Acoustics 1394-legacy connection gateway. It allows you to connect conventional analog equipment to 1394 equipment. $600.
