Don Shaw earned a Ph.D. in computer engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and has published numerous technical papers from his research there. Following graduation, he was employed in the semiconductor industry, where he worked as a video ASIC designer/architect and in product management for Gennum's VXP line of ultra-high-end image-processing chips. In this business, he developed expertise in video processing and image quality for high-end home theater systems and professional-grade video display equipment.

He is currently employed at Christie, the world's leading manufacturer of digital cinema projectors, as senior director of product management. In this role, he leads a team of product managers that work with customers, sales, and engineering to determine the right mix of products to ensure that Christie meets the needs of its customers today and in the future.
