Revolutionary New Concept in Control to Make its Debut at CEDIA EXPO 2011

SHAKOPEE, Minn. — Sept. 7, 2011 — Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) today announced its new SURFiR companion remote for the iPad(R), iPhone(R), and iPod touch(R). Making its debut at CEDIA EXPO 2011, the SURFiR is a unique and revolutionary new device that overcomes some of the inherent limitations of tablets and smartphones as primary controllers, delivering elements of a robust, high-end control system — including a rich graphical interface, user-friendly ergonomics, instant connectivity, and highly reliable operation — in a seamless, low-cost package.

The SURFiR companion remote represents a revolutionary new concept in control, providing an affordable solution to incorporate tactile control with a smartphone or tablet device. The remote allows users to incorporate the Apple(R) devices that they already own as the main graphical interface for their control system, while adding the convenience of tactile control with hard buttons, and eliminating the numerous screen swipes needed for control tasks that require frequent interaction, such as watching TV. The SURFiR remote enables users to enjoy many of the other benefits of their Apple device, such as checking emails, reading news feeds, accessing social media apps, etc., while still having convenient and intuitive control of their electronic system.

Adding a touch of style to any setting, the SURFiR features a contemporary look and feel that compliments the sleek design of the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. Designed to work with any of RTI’s powerful XP control processors, the controller requires minimal programming for installers, lowering overall installation costs and making it simple to integrate into any system. In addition to Apple devices, the SURFiR will offer support for Android(R)-based smartphones and tablets in the future.

“Many consumers love using their iPad or iPhone to access their electronics system. However, using such devices presents a few limitations, including the lack of tactile control and the numerous screen swipes it can take to perform basic functions,” said Pete Baker, vice president of sales and marketing for RTI. “We are excited to introduce our revolutionary SURFiR companion remote at this year’s CEDIA EXPO, to bring a complete, powerful control experience to Apple enthusiasts.”

The SURFiR will be available at the end of 2011 with an MSRP of $149.00. The controller will be on display at CEDIA EXPO 2011 in booth 3024.

RTI Announces KNX Driver for European Market

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Developed by VIVATEQ, New Driver Allows for Two-Way Integration of KNX-Compatible Devices With any RTI XP Series Control Processor

SHAKOPEE, Minn. — May 9, 2011 — Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) today announced a powerful new solution for control of KNX-compatible devices and systems such as lighting and climate control. Developed by RTI’s European distribution partner VIVATEQ (a member of the COMM-TEC group), this two-way integration was created specifically to meet the needs of the European market. Utilizing any of RTI’s XP series of control processors, the two-way software driver works together with the CTG-KNX/IP Gateway device to provide seamless integration of all functions and feedback of a KNX system on RTI’s two-way-enabled handheld and in-wall controllers.

VIVATEQ’s CTG-KNX/IP Gateway and software driver utilize the Ethernet network as a communication link between KNX-compatible devices and any RTI XP series processor. Two-way communication provides a powerful control experience by allowing for visual feedback from compatible electronic devices such as HVAC, lighting, and motorized blinds, on RTI’s two-way enabled controllers. For installers, these new capabilities are easy to take advantage of via the simple drag-and-drop programming of RTI’s Integration Designer(R) software.

“With Philips having exited the market with its Pronto line of universal controllers, there are a lot of dealers right now who are making the switch to RTI,” said Alex Tempel, managing director of VIVATEQ. “We believe RTI is in a prime position to dominate the market, and with this new driver as well as other solutions, we can easily provide our customers with an exceptional control experience with complete integration of all systems and components.”

“KNX is a dominant control protocol in Europe, and the new VIVATEQ driver will be a very instrumental and powerful tool for our European dealers,” said Pete Baker, vice president of sales and marketing for RTI. “And by utilizing our Integration Designer programming software, installers will be delighted with the ease and efficiency with which they can integrate KNX-compatible devices with any of our XP series processors.”

SHAKOPEE, Minn. — July 19, 2010 — Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) today announced that it is now shipping its vIRsa Mouse IR emitter. Built with the professional integrator in mind, the versatile device features a sleek, symmetrical design while providing a host of features to ensure smooth, reliable installations.

The low-profile vIRsa is unobtrusive and adapts to any installation environment with a flexible film adhesive that conforms to curved surfaces. For fast troubleshooting, a separate holder remains attached, allowing easy removal and replacement of the emitter. A blue LED flasher offers increased visibility but may be hidden during normal operation.

For high reliability, a translucent PCB improves the integrity of electrical connections while a built-in resistor protects against voltage overdrive and precision molding ensures consistent quality. The device’s 15-foot cable reaches the entire equipment rack, and an integrated cable-management strap reduces clutter.

“Our vIRsa Mouse is the ultimate IR emitter. Engineered like no other, it combines flexibility, convenience, efficiency, and unmatched reliability for integrators, all in one device,” said Pete Baker, vice president of sales and marketing for RTI. “From its flexible film adhesive to its built-in resistor, every aspect of the vIRsa is designed to simplify installations in the field.”

The vIRsa Mouse is available now at an MSRP of $15.
