Digital connectivity solutions provider Gefen today announced its newest breakthrough for an extra long-range extension of HDMI devices. The GefenPRO ELR Extender for HDMI with POL offers a long-range, multi-signal method of extension up to 330-feet (100m) over just one CAT-5 cable, a significant improvement over previous solutions, which required two cables to reach shorter distances.

Innovative Gefen POL technology based on the Power Over Ethernet standard enables the delivery of power to the receiver unit, giving an added advantage to the integrator. Power is provided to the receiver using the AC power connected at the sender unit. Each receiver unit is also equipped with an additional 5v output to power a supplemental product, such as a scaler, switcher or splitter at the display location.

The GefenPRO ELR Extender for HDMI with POL is ideal for installations where power requirements are limited at the receiving side, such as when mounting projectors on the ceiling. By reducing the cabling requirements from two to one, it allows installers to easily tap into existing in-wall CAT-5 type cabling.

HDMI video at 1080p full HD resolutions, 3DTV support, audio, IR remote, RS-232 control, Ethernet and power are all delivered over the same CAT-5 cable. HDMI features supported include 3DTV, deep color, lip sync and audio delay. Both the IR backchannel and RS-232 connection can be used to control the display from the remote location. Each receiver can be wall mounted for added convenience.

Relying on a slim, short plug design, the PRO Series Interconnects have a shallow mounting depth and recessed receptacle compatibility. Each cord style can fit RCA sockets that are slightly recessed like ones commonly used on some subwoofers.  Combined with good cable flexibility, the short plug ensures a shallow mounting for the inevitable tight spaces behind AV gear.

All AV models are 100 percent double shielded, a benefit for both audio and video quality. The versatile design can split into channels to create different combinations. For example, the PRO-3AV can be used to connect component video, composite video and stereo audio, or split apart if an installer actually needs 2AV and a 1AV is available.

To simplify installation and maintenance, each Interconnects model includes color rings that can be applied onsite to identify different applications (e.g., yellow for composite video) depending on the cord model. Certain models, like the 2AV, which is intended for stereo audio only, is pre-fitted with red and white rings.

Exciting Fast Switching Technology Resolves Slow Switching Time Between HDMI Source Selection for a Fast and Efficient Performance

CHATSWORTH, CA – Connectivity solutions provider Gefen today announced that all its HDMI v1.3 products are capable of using new Fast Switching Technology (FST).

This proprietary new technology emerged to better handle HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content protection) handshaking, which in the past could take up to ten seconds in transition when switching between sources.

With FST enabled, those ten seconds have been reduced to nearly no delay when switching sources, with high definition video appearing on the screen or display immediately with no latency.
