San Marcos, CA, November 29, 2011 – Audience today announced the introduction of its Au24e Low Z, High Z and MM phono cables, the first high-end phono interconnects that are impedance-matched to optimize the electrical characteristics of the phono cartridge to the cables and to the preamp.

Given the extremely fragile nature of the signals coming from the phono cartridge, it is critical that every effort is made to preserve the integrity of those signals. Cartridge output levels can be quite low, typically in the 3-5 millivolt range and often as low as 100 microvolts. Because of the weakness of the signals, they can suffer significant degradation and loss when passing through a phono cable.

“We have conducted considerable research into the electrical characteristics of phono cables and have concluded that any single cable cannot possibly be optimal for every phono cartridge,” noted John McDonald, president of Audience. “This is why we now offer three different types of Au24e phono cables – to obtain the highest levels of fidelity and musical accuracy from the cartridge/cable/preamp interface in a high-end audio system.”

The available Audience Au24e models include the following:

• Low Z – for moving coil cartridges with internal resistance up to 30 ohms.
• High Z – for moving coil cartridges with internal resistance between 30 and 100 ohms.
• MM – for all cartridges with internal resistance above 100 ohms, which includes high output moving coil cartridges rated at 47k ohms and most moving magnet or moving iron models.

The different internal electrical characteristics of phono cartridges make choosing a cable designed to preserve and enhance those characteristics an all-important consideration. Unless the cable is properly impedance-matched, precious low-level detail information can be lost that is essential to the overall sonic presentation. Each Audience phono cable is designed to optimize the electrical characteristics of the cartridge to the cable and preserve signal flow to the phono stage without detrimental influences.

The performance of the cables is further enhanced by the use of continuous cast high-purity copper and low-loss cable geometry. Conventional copper wire has thousands of crystalline barriers in every meter. In order for the signals from the phono cartridge to pass through these barriers, energy has to be expended – and lost. When dealing with the ultra-low-level signals produced by phono cartridges, these harmful crystal barriers are significant impediments to the transmission of critical musical information and can cause audible signal degradation. For this reason, all Audience Au24e phono cables are constructed using the highest purity oxygen-free continuous cast copper. In addition, all Audience Au24e cables are shielded.

Prices for Audience Au24e 1.0 m and 1.25 m meter phono cables are as follows:

Low Z RCA – RCA: $1,090, $1,180
Low Z RCA – DIN: $1,295, $1,385
High Z RCA – RCA: $1,090, $1,180
High Z RCA – DIN: $1,295, $1,385
MM RCA – RCA : $479, $505
MM RCA – DIN: $729, $755

RCA- or DIN- to tinned end cables are also available for users who wish to fabricate their own terminations. Please contact Audience for pricing.

San Marcos, CA, May 16, 2011 – T.H.E. Show Newport Beach – The Home Entertainment Show promises to be one of the most exciting audio and home theater shows in years. Audience will be there with an exceptional lineup of ultimate-performance products including the acclaimed ClairAudient 2+2 loudspeakers, and a complete lineup of components, cables, power conditioners and accessories.

Audience will be demonstrating a complete music system at T.H.E. Show at the Newport Beach Hilton, Newport Beach, CA, Room 417 (June 3 – 5, 2011). Audience will also be supplying speakers for the live jazz performances throughout the show. Sponsored by Stereophile, The Absolute Sound and The Los Angeles and Orange County Audio Society, T.H.E. Show will be open to the public and will feature live jazz, wine tastings and even a classic car show in addition to more than 120 exhibitors.

The ClairAudient 2+2 is a bi-pole (front- and rear-radiating design) that measures just 14.5 inches high by 7.875 inches wide by 10.25 inches deep, yet delivers surprisingly expansive sound. In The Absolute Sound/HiFi+ Guide to High-Performance Loudspeakers (April 2011), Dick Olsher commented, “The ClairAudient 2+2 is by far the most enjoyable, musically compelling mini-monitor I’ve auditioned to date.”

The ClairAudient 2+2 incorporates the proprietary Audience A3-S full-range driver, which eliminates the need for crossovers and disparate drivers to deliver exceptionally coherent, musically natural performance. The 2+2 also utilizes exclusive SSIT SweetSpace™ Imaging Technology, that provides an expanded listening area rather than the usual single listener sweet spot.

Although just 3 inches in diameter, the A3-S drivers provide extremely flat frequency response in the 2+2 from 40Hz to 22kHz eliminating the need for a separate woofer, midrange driver, tweeter, and crossover network. As a result the inherent problems of integrating multiple sonically dissimilar drivers and the accompanying phase distortions, loss of resolution and transient response degradation of a crossover network are completely avoided.

The A3-S driver features a large patented neodymium-magnet motor structure and voice coil that moves with a highly linear excursion. It utilizes an exclusive rigid lightweight anodized aluminum-magnesium alloy cone material with a curvilinear shape. Other refinements include a concave dust cap that is specially designed to control high-frequency cone breakup and provide optimum dispersion; a patent-pending surround with a unique “S” shape that allows the driver to behave more like an ideal pistonic (back and forth) radiator; a rigid patent-pending basket (frame) that eliminates sonically degrading resonances, a spider (the circular piece that holds the driver’s voice coil in place) that allows unrestricted cone movement and many additional enhancements.

Designed, engineered and handcrafted in the United States, the Audience ClairAudient 2+2 loudspeaker is currently available in a variety of striking, exotic wood veneer finishes at a suggested retail price of $5,000 per pair.

The ClairAudient 2+2 will be demonstrated at T.H.E. Show Newport Beach 2011 as part of a complete Audience music system including the Audience-modified Oppo BDP-83SE Blu-ray player, AdeptResponse aR6-TS and aR12-TS power conditioners, Wavemaster buffered autoformer preamplifier, prototype Wavemaster Class D monoblock power amplifiers, Au24e cables, Au24 powerChords and other components.

Audience Now Shipping Upgraded Adept Response Power Conditioners With Improved Components and Performance

Monday, May 17th, 2010

San Marcos, CA, May 3, 2010 – Audience, a company dedicated to designing and manufacturing ultimate-performance audio/video equipment, is currently shipping its upgraded Adept Response aR2-TS, aR6-TS and aR12-TS high-resolution power conditioners. The three models now incorporate Teflon capacitors with mono crystal copper wire leads, and a large ground plane with all wiring secured by heavy-duty welded connectors in a star-ground configuration.

John McDonald, president of Audience pointed out: “The quality of the AC power going into an A/V system is critical. All audio/video electronics, in essence, are simply modulators of the AC power they receive. This means that the performance the components deliver can only be as good as the quality of the AC power.”

The AC coming out of a wall outlet may contain a significant amount of RF noise – which can then make its way into an A/V system and cause problems such as reduced resolution and sonic purity, an audible “haze” in the sound, and degradation of the video image. The Audience Adept Response power conditioners overcome the liabilities of poor AC power through the use of sophisticated filtering circuitry, premium-quality components and optimized component layout.
