Anthem Statement D2v and Anthem AVM 50v Processors Get 3D!

A new dealer installed update provides 3D switching and automatic passthrough along with other useful performance features.

Las Vegas, NV – International CES 2011 – January 10-13 – Venetian 30-336 – Anthem, a leading manufacturer of high-end electronics for music, home theater and distributed audio systems, announces a major upgrade to the award-winning Anthem Statement D2v and Anthem AVM 50v. Owners of these high performance A/V processors will now be able to switch between 3D sources on HDMI inputs one through four and HDMI output one, or enable automatic passthrough as a per-source menu option for video output configuration.

A physical upgrade for existing owners of the two Anthem preamplifier/processors will also be available via a new dealer-installed circuit board which replaces two smaller boards for HDMI inputs one through four and HDMI output one, followed by a software update. Complementing the 3D switching and automatic passthrough features, the upgrade equips the Statement D2v and Anthem AVM 50V with video processor bypass for 2D, useful for reference quality video content that doesn’t require cleanup or scaling. The on-screen status display information does not apply in “Through” mode, since video processing is bypassed.

For additional convenience, the upgraded processors automatically match the output refresh rate to the source’s frame refresh rate which is useful for sources that output a mix between
24, 50, and 60 Hz.

In developing the upgrades, Anthem also put both A/V processors through rigorous compliance testing to achieve HDMI 1.4a certification. As a pioneer in the troubleshooting and integration of HDMI, Anthem understands how to utilize these connections to their fullest. The processors are equipped with four additional HDMI 1.3c inputs (for a total of eight) and one additional HDMI 1.3c output (for a total of two), delivering unprecedented connection capabilities for a preamplifier/processor. All inputs and outputs offer Deep-Color support (36-bit).

Anthem’s heralded Room Correction System (ARC-1™) also comes standard with the Statement D2v 3D and AVM 50v 3D. While equalizing frequency response in a room to achieve some generic (i.e. “flat”) response is a common approach to solving problems with room acoustics, it results in an unnatural-sounding spectral balance since it does not account for in-room cues that the human ear/brain mechanism expects. ARC is a true audiophile solution: it differs from other systems in that it uses proprietary processing to compute each speaker’s in-room frequency response and then computes a target frequency response for each to yield the most natural sound as determined by multiple double-blind listening tests spanning many years.

The estimated availability of the Statement D2v 3D and AVM 50v 3D is Q1 2012. Estimated US FMV for the Anthem Statement D2v 3D is $8,999 and for the Anthem AVM 50v 3D $5,999. The US FMV for the 3D upgrade kit is TBA. For more information, please visit www.anthemav.com.

BenQ Launches its First Full-HD 3D Home Cinema Projector

January 17th, 2012

New W7000 Features 2,000 ANSI Lumen Brightness, 50,000:1 Ultra-High Contrast Ratio, Frame Interpolation, and Native Rec. 709 Color Gamut

IRVINE, Calif. — Jan. 9, 2012 — BenQ America Corp. today introduced the company’s first full-HD 3D home cinema projector, the W7000. Providing consumers with the ultimate in 3D home entertainment, the W7000 is the first projector in the world to be accredited with Full HD 3D Certification by TÜV Rheinland, one of the most trusted certification institutes in Europe.

Powered by DLP Link(TM), the W7000 delivers stunning 1080p 3D images to both of the viewer’s eyes without the distraction of crosstalk. Consumers can enjoy brilliantly rendered 3D movies, live sports, and video games without the hassle of additional equipment. The W7000 provides 2,000 ANSI lumen high brightness, a 50,000:1 ultra-high contrast ratio with a dynamic iris, and support for all HDMI 1.4a 3D signal formats. BrilliantColor(TM) performance technology from Texas Instruments boosts midtone colors to heighten brightness levels, making images more precisely rendered than ever. In addition, the W7000 features VIDI(TM) lighting technology to deliver more lumens on screen than competing systems and normal lamps while increasing brightness by 15 percent for red and blue. The W7000 offers frame interpolation, providing noticeably smoother and more lifelike motion for action scenes by increasing the rate of frames per second and eliminating motion lag, distracting judders, and blurred shadows.

“The W7000 represents an exciting new chapter for us here at BenQ,” said Lars Yoder, President at BenQ America Corp. “What really sets the projector apart is its ability to deliver a ‘real 3D home cinema experience.’ The W7000 allows consumers to enjoy 3D content with full-HD resolution in both eyes. There is no crosstalk and additional emitters and transmission devices are not required, just fully immersive 3D enjoyment.”

The W7000 features the same full-HD-optimized optical system offered by all top-of-the-line home cinema projectors from BenQ, providing viewers with the highest level of clarity and sharpness in every full-HD image. For color precision that matches the human eye, the projector is compliant to the native Rec. 709 color gamut, one of the highest HD video standards for professional-grade home projectors. Featuring BenQ’s unique color management system — including independent 3D color control, preset mode, and user mode adjustment — the W7000 gives viewers the freedom to fine-tune hues, contrast, brightness, color temperature, gamma, and white balance levels to match their individual 2D and 3D viewing preferences. The system is ISFccc-certified by the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF), which enables viewers to enjoy a perfectly calibrated picture along with two optimized modes — ISF Day and ISF Night — for an unparalleled viewing experience.

For flexible placement in the home, the W7000 offers a versatile 1.5:1 zoom range and 1.62 to 2.43 throw ratio. The projector’s H+V lens shift technology provides up to 125 percent vertical and 40 percent horizontal lens shift adjustment with zero vertical offset. This allows the focal point of the lens to be adjusted in home theaters where center placement isn’t possible. Also, Panamorph(TM) lens compatibility allows viewers to show 2.35:1 aspect-format video — such as major studio movies — in its original widescreen format at maximum resolution with no image distortion or letterboxing.

The W7000 will be available for the North American market in Q1 2012 at an MSRP of $3,999. The unit will make its debut at the 2012 International CES Jan. 10-13, in Hilton Suite 28-105.

More information on the W7000 and the full line of BenQ products is available at www.BenQ.com.

Control4 Announces New High-Performance Automation Controllers

January 17th, 2012

PRESS RELEASE

Control4 Announces New High-Performance Automation Controllers

New one-room and whole-home controllers dramatically enhance consumer experiences with fluid on-screen control, blazingly fast media access, and instantaneous responsiveness.

Las Vegas, NV– January 10, 2012 at 7:00 AM PT – Control4, a leading innovator in residential and light commercial automation systems, announces two new models to its family of automation controllers: the flagship HC-800 and the versatile HC-250. Designed to maximize the power of Control4’s award-winning operating system, the
HC-800 and the HC-250 provide the ultimate Control4® experience for speed, performance and flexibility at an exceptional value for homeowners and businesses.

At the center of Control4’s updated line of controllers is the new HC-800, a powerful, flexible, multi-zone controller designed to serve as the cornerstone of any Control4 installation, no matter how large or demanding. The HC-800’s lightning-fast, next-generation 1.8GHz high-performance dual-core processor delivers instantaneous, interactive on-screen control and browsing of even the largest media libraries.

While the rack-mountable HC-800 measures in at an ultra-slim 1RU, it doesn’t skimp on connectivity with two RS-232 ports, six IR ports, and four contact and relay switches. It also features enough analog and digital outputs to deliver four independent zones of audio without the help of a secondary media player. Certified HDMI audio and video connectivity enables simple integration with the latest displays, A/V receivers, and surround processors, while component video connectivity guarantees compatibility with legacy systems.

“This is a blazingly fast controller that can keep up with just about anything you throw at it,” enthused Shawn LeMay, owner of Sound & Theater. Kevin Luther of Blackwire Designs agreed, saying, “The HC-800 is the most impressive controller I have ever tested. The on-screen performance is simply amazing and the speed of ZigBee is unlike anything before.”

The new HC-250 also joins the controller family as an elegant, low-profile form factor, single-room controller with a next-generation 1GHz processor that delivers exceptional speed and power. The HC-250 fits easily behind a TV, on a shelf, or in a rack and features new Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability enabled by a single CAT5 cable providing the electrical power and network connectivity for the HC-250 to control the entire room, greatly simplifying installation for the integrator.

The HC-250 supports both digital audio and video over HDMI, and boasts integrated Wireless-N WiFi and ZigBee for high-performance wireless networking. The HC-250 is perfect for single-room systems including media rooms, home theaters, and conference rooms, as well as for providing fluid on-screen control for each TV in larger residential and light commercial installations.

The HC-250 makes it easier than ever for an integrator to design a one-room AV solution as an upgrade-replacement for less-functional universal remote controls. Consumers can then build upon that system at their own pace — adding additional automation and control functionality over time.

“The performance, capability and design enhancements delivered by our new controllers translate to exceptional consumer experience,” says Control4 President and CEO, Martin Plaehn. “With our new controllers, consumer can browse very large media libraries and enjoy a selected movie, song, or playlist instantly, activate lighting before their finger leaves the touch screen, and control an entire home from their TV instantaneously. It will be hard to find a more responsive and capable system, and that’s going to delight consumers.”

Debuting at CES 2012, the new Control4 HC-800 and HC-250 enhance the current controller family, which also includes the HC-200, HC-300 and the HC-1000.

The HC-800 has a US MSRP of $999 and is available to order now for expected delivery in February.

The HC-250 has a US MSRP of $599 and is expected to be available in Q2 2012.

INTERNATIONAL CES 2012, LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2012 — Pass Labs introduces the Xs-300 and Xs–150 Amplifiers, first entries in a new generation of Xs Series amplifiers, at CES 2012.

January 5th, 2012

INTERNATIONAL CES 2012, LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2012 — Pass Labs introduces the Xs-300 and Xs–150 Amplifiers, first entries in a new generation of Xs Series amplifiers, at CES 2012.

The new amps are designed to measure well objectively and, equally important, sound subjectively as well as they measure, an exacting engineering challenge that has led to a multitude of ear-pleasing refinements. Pass Labs’ new enhancements further narrow the gap between what scientific measurements report about amplifier performance and what the human ear subjectively hears.
Pass Labs’ Xs-300 Amplifier, from their brand new Xs-Series of Power Amplifiers, uses massive double-stacked chassis.

The Xs-300 and Xs–150 Amplifiers are monoblock models delivering 300 and 150 watts, respectively. Both models employ double-stacked chassis, with the power supply and current source in one chassis and the input and main output stage in the other chassis. The separate power supplies enable a bounty of benefits, including lower electromagnetic noise, twice as much storage capacitance as earlier Pass Labs amps, banks of high-speed/soft-recovery rectifiers, improved high-frequency noise filters, bigger and better transformers, improved passive decoupling, massive heat sinks, and lower standby currents.

The Xs Series has been three years in development. The first year, Pass Labs settled on the power supply and physical package. The second year, Pass Labs finalized the output stage and front end. The third year, the company refined the front end and the biasing of the output stage.

In the process, Pass Labs applied a number of new refinements, including adjusting the values for push-pull Class A biasing and the amount of single-ended bias in the output stage. It also significantly increased the single-ended bias in the output stage over earlier Pass Labs amplifiers. All three changes delivered major improvements. Pass Labs also installed sturdy output stage transistors, with a combined capacity well over 10 KW, and massive heat sink assemblies capable of 2 KW all day long.

The Xs-300 and Xs–150 Amplifiers will be available in the First Quarter 2012
from authorized Pass Labs dealers at suggested prices of $85,000 and $65,000
per pair (U.S. MSRP), respectively. They can be seen with other outstanding
Pass Labs products at the Venetian Hotel, Suite 29-236, during CES.

Individual 400-watt Wadax digital amps drive the midrange and woofer modules. Additionally, binding posts are provided to externally amplify the midrange drivers if desired.

All of the electronics including amplification and digital to analogue processing are contained in the mechanically isolated aluminum module at the bottom of the loudspeaker. The La Pasión also incorporates an analog input for use with any preamplifier.

“In my quest for uncompromised sonic purity, there are no elements between the drivers and the power amplifiers. No cables, caps, inductors or resistors. The same D/A electronics inside the PRE1 Universal preamplifier are used inside each speaker.

This allows maximum utilization of the Wadax proprietary musIC chip which manages the crossover, mechanical non-linearity corrections, amplitude and time alignment and all other signal processes”, said Guadalajara.

Visitors to BenQ’s suite will experience the latest breakthrough in home entertainment when the company unveils its first 3D full-HD home cinema projector: the W7000. The world’s first projector to be accredited with the TÜV Rheinland 3D Full-HD Certification, the W7000 is powered by DLP Link(TM) to deliver ultra-smooth 1080p full-HD 3D images to both eyes, crosstalk-free. Combined with 50,000:1 high contrast ratio, 2,000 ANSI lumen high brightness, Rec. 709 color gamut, BrilliantColor(TM) performance, VIDI(TM) lighting technology, and the latest HDMI 1.4a connectivity, the W7000 allows users to enjoy brilliantly rendered 3D movies, live sports, and video games automatically without additional setup.

Also at the 2012 International CES, BenQ will launch the next generation of its popular mini projector, the BenQ Joybee GP2. Building on the success of its GP1 predecessor, the Joybee GP2 Projector features the same elegant black and white housing while adding a number of enhancements. Just a few of these enhancements include: an intuitive user interface, 720p HD-ready video capability, short-throw projection, an integrated iPhone(R)/iPod(R) dock, an optional three-hour battery pack, 2GB of on-board memory storage, and a multitude of connectivity options for personal devices and various multimedia formats. With simple plug-and-play operation and 200 ANSI lumen brightness, the palm-sized GP2 Projector allows users to share HD-quality presentations, videos, photos, and games on a brilliant 160-inch cinematic display.

As every gamer knows, “Gaming is in the Details.” So, BenQ is pleased to introduce two new 120 Hz, 3D first-person shooter (FPS) monitors at CES: the XL2420T and XL2420TX. Offering the ultimate FPS gaming experience, the new XL Series monitors were co-developed by prominent Counter-Strike legends Emil “HeatoN” Christensen, Abdisamad “SpawN” Mohamed, Tommy “Potti” Ingemarsson, Christer “fisker” Eriksson, and Michael “ahl” Korduner, as well as UMX_Xanver from ZOWIE GEAR, an innovative manufacturer of high-end professional gaming gear. Through this collaboration, the XL Series models not only hold the fundamental key to FPS gaming success, but also possess exclusive features meticulously thought out to provide FPS gamers with the ultimate sense of ease and control. Some unique features include Black eQualizer color engine technology to allow gamers to brighten the image display without over-exposing white levels and a stylish S Switch controller to allow users to switch swiftly between customized display settings for gaming and entertainment.

“CES attendees who visit our suite will get a firsthand look at some of today’s most leading-edge innovations in home cinema 3D-ready projection and gaming monitors — a real testament to our philosophy that ‘Enjoyment Matters,’” said Lars Yoder, President at BenQ America Corp. “For instance, our new BenQ Joybee GP2 mini projector incorporates features and benefits that mobile consumers value, offering a unique combination of performance and flexibility and giving users a fun way to present, share, and entertain.”
