Paradigm Introduces Designer Series In-Ceiling Speakers

Paradigm Introduces Designer Series In-Ceiling Speakers

Sleeker, low-profile bezels, increased dispersion and a marine makeover highlight enhancements to Paradigm’s custom AMS, SA and Signature Series in-ceiling speakers.

Las Vegas, NV – International CES 2011 – January 10-13 – Venetian 30-336 – Paradigm Electronics Inc., an international leader in speaker design and manufacturing, announces the new Designer Series, a breathtaking overhaul of the company’s beloved AMS, SA and Signature in-ceiling architectural speakers that includes a number of performance and aesthetic enhancements. Speakers in all three lines now feature new low-profile bezels for a cleaner, disappearing aesthetic, and newly redesigned scrims that are more sonically transparent than ever before.

Under the hood, all three Guided Soundfield Models (AMS-150R-30, SA-15R-30 and SIG-1.5R-30) now feature the same low-density NLC™ Non-Limiting Corrugated thermoplastic elastomer surrounds as Paradigm’s highly lauded Signature Series floorstanding, bookshelf, and center speakers. The new surrounds deliver vastly improved damping of vibrations and resonances and increased peak-to-peak excursion. Combined with a new motor structure including a three-split voice coil, thicker top plate, and much larger ceramic/ferrite magnet, has resulted in a speaker that plays +3 dB louder with more clarity at higher output.

Other improvements include new convex grilles for stereo/mono models (AMS-150R-SM and SA-15R-SM), which minimize edge diffraction and allow for much wider sound dispersion. This is an especially important feature since in-ceiling models are not installed to accommodate a “sweet spot”, but rather a larger listening area.

Marine models in the AMS line received several upgrades making them an ideal option for boats, pools and anywhere moisture or weather poses an threat. Neodymium grille magnets provide better adherence in all weather conditions, while all three marine models (AMS-100RX, AMS-150RX and AMS-150RX-SM) now feature more corrosive resistant stainless steel, as well as improved drainage channels for enhanced performance, reliability and longevity.

“Given that the typical customer in the market for an in-ceiling speaker is concerned first and foremost with aesthetics, the invisible design of our new Designer Series is an achievement and selling point in itself,” says Mark Aling, Senior Marketing Director for Paradigm. “But we’ve also included a number of performance enhancements across all three lines that make these Paradigm’s best-sounding in-ceiling speakers yet.”

Paradigm Designer Series in-ceiling speakers are now available from Paradigm dealers in the U.S. and Canada. Model lineup and US FMV pricing for the series is as follows:
AMS-100R: $219/ea
AMS-100RX: $299/ea
AMS-150R: $299/ea
AMS-150RX: $369/ea
AMS-150R-SM: $399/ea
AMS-150SQ-SM: $399/ea
AMS-150R-30: $429/ea
SA-10R: $399/ea
SA-15R: $499/ea
SA-15R-SM: $549/ea
SA-15R-30: $649/ea
SIG-1.5R: $799/ea
SIG-1.5R-30: $999/ea

MartinLogan Motion SLM Offers Low-Profile Power

January 17th, 2012

PRESS RELEASE
Contact: Caster Communications, Inc. at 401.792.7080
MartinLogan Motion SLM Offers Low-Profile Power
The slimmest MartinLogan speaker ever features a multitude of install options and will change the perception of what is possible from a low-profile speaker.
Las Vegas, NV – International CES 2012 – January 10-13 – Venetian 30-335 – MartinLogan, the world’s leader in electrostatic speaker technology, proudly announces the slender Motion® SLM, a wall-hanging or free standing LCR speaker that is powerful enough to stand alone and detailed enough to be used in conjunction with floor standing MartinLogan speakers. The newest from MartinLogan’s award-winning Motion Series line, the Motion SLM features dual four-inch, ultra-slim fiber cone woofers and dual four-inch high-velocity passive bass radiators, paired with a Folded Motion™ tweeter – all in an ultra-slim profile designed expressly for super-thin TVs.

Slim enough to complement the thinnest wall-mounted HD displays and even projection screens, the Motion SLM steps in where underpowered, unnatural sounding TV speakers fall short. The secret to the Motion SLM’s larger-than-its-size performance is the dual ultra-slim fiber cone woofers and high-velocity passive bass radiators, which provide maximum controlled low-end bass extension from an ultra-slim profile combined with the advanced resolution Folded Motion tweeter. The high-gloss black SLM cabinet is only 1.45-inches thin, for a total wall protrusion of 1.83-inches when used with magnetic grille and included wall mount bracket.

The advanced resolution Folded Motion tweeter features lightning-fast transient response and a surface area eight-times that of a typical 1″ dome tweeter, for clear, highly dynamic and precise sound. MartinLogan’s dedicated in-house engineers carefully crafted the Motion Series as an affordable and compact product line that seamlessly blends the exquisite Folded Motion transducers with powerful, compact bass technology. The result is a smooth, refined sound with stunning dynamic range and jaw-dropping clarity.

Designed for maximum placement flexibility, the MartinLogan Motion SLM can be placed just about anywhere for your convenience. With keyhole slots on the speaker’s back panel that attach easily to the included wall bracket, you can have the SLM wall-mounted and playing in a matter of minutes. If on-wall mounting is not appealing, each speaker also comes with a curved black-glass base that allows it to sit vertically on a shelf or in an equipment cabinet.

Thinking of going horizontal? The Folded Motion tweeter has an 80° x 80° dispersion pattern, which allows the Motion SLM to sound exactly the same in a horizontal or vertical orientation, making them ideal for Left-Center-Right (LCR) applications. Each MartinLogan’s Motion SLM includes “kick-stand” brackets that attach to the back of the cabinet, allowing them to free-stand for horizontal center channel applications. Additionally, the logo on the grille is magnetic and can move and rotate to the proper atheistically pleasing location in any orientation.

The Motion SLM speaker is priced at $499.95 each and is shipping worldwide to MartinLogan dealers.

For more information on the new Motion SLM from MartinLogan, please visit their website at: www.martinlogan.com/motion.

MartinLogan Reveals Motion 20 and Motion 40 Tower Speakers

January 17th, 2012

PRESS RELEASE

MartinLogan Reveals Motion 20 and Motion 40 Tower Speakers
New floor-standing speakers feature MartinLogan’s award-winning Folded Motion transducers, elegant aesthetics, and powerful bass performance.
Las Vegas, NV – International CES 2011 – January 10-13 – Venetian 30-335 – MartinLogan, the world’s leader in electrostatic and Folded Motion™ loudspeaker technology, proudly announces two new speaker models in the award-winning Motion® Series, the Motion 20 and Motion 40. Replacing the popular Motion 10 and Motion 12 models, both floors standing models benefit from a number of design and performance enhancements including nearly twice the internal volume over previous models (resulting in extended bass performance) and elegantly sophisticated aesthetics with rounded edges and a gently tapered top, all wrapped in a high-gloss piano-black finish.

MartinLogan’s dedicated in-house design and engineering team carefully crafted the Motion Series to create an extremely affordable and compact product line with stunning dynamic range and jaw-dropping clarity. Key to the Motion Series sonic performance is the unique Folded Motion tweeter (similar to tweeter technologies found in ultra expensive speakers), precision high-end Vojtko™ crossovers, powerful woofers, and acoustically inspired cabinet design.

The Motion 20 and Motion 40 are bi-wire capable and feature premium five-way binding posts. A perforated metal grille accentuates the speaker’s powerful elegance while oversized 5.5-inch and 6.5-inch black aluminum cone woofers (on the 20 and 40 respectively) paired with a rear firing bass port adds extra punch in the lower frequencies. The oversized woofer design also creates increased cone area for higher output and better bass response. Reinforced solid internal bracing dramatically reduces internal resonances and standing waves.

Bass drivers in both models are located near the bottom of the speaker while mid-range drivers and Folded Motion tweeters are orientated near the top. This driver arrangement offers a strong visual statement but also provides solid low-frequency reinforcement, superb dispersion characteristics and audiophile-quality high-frequency performance.

Compatibility with other MartinLogan speakers adds versatility to listeners building their system piece by piece. Whether it’s a two-channel or home theater application, the Motion Series 20 and Motion 40 are voice-matched to the Motion FX, Motion 8 and other Motion Series speakers which can be integrated to create a richly detailed high-performance surround sound system.

Pricing for the Motion 20 and Motion 40 is yet to be determined; they are scheduled to ship in Q2 2012.

Anthem Statement D2v and Anthem AVM 50v Processors Get 3D!

January 17th, 2012

PRESS RELEASE
Contact: Caster Communications, Inc. at 401.792.7080

Anthem Statement D2v and Anthem AVM 50v Processors Get 3D!

A new dealer installed update provides 3D switching and automatic passthrough along with other useful performance features.

Las Vegas, NV – International CES 2011 – January 10-13 – Venetian 30-336 – Anthem, a leading manufacturer of high-end electronics for music, home theater and distributed audio systems, announces a major upgrade to the award-winning Anthem Statement D2v and Anthem AVM 50v. Owners of these high performance A/V processors will now be able to switch between 3D sources on HDMI inputs one through four and HDMI output one, or enable automatic passthrough as a per-source menu option for video output configuration.

A physical upgrade for existing owners of the two Anthem preamplifier/processors will also be available via a new dealer-installed circuit board which replaces two smaller boards for HDMI inputs one through four and HDMI output one, followed by a software update. Complementing the 3D switching and automatic passthrough features, the upgrade equips the Statement D2v and Anthem AVM 50V with video processor bypass for 2D, useful for reference quality video content that doesn’t require cleanup or scaling. The on-screen status display information does not apply in “Through” mode, since video processing is bypassed.

For additional convenience, the upgraded processors automatically match the output refresh rate to the source’s frame refresh rate which is useful for sources that output a mix between
24, 50, and 60 Hz.

In developing the upgrades, Anthem also put both A/V processors through rigorous compliance testing to achieve HDMI 1.4a certification. As a pioneer in the troubleshooting and integration of HDMI, Anthem understands how to utilize these connections to their fullest. The processors are equipped with four additional HDMI 1.3c inputs (for a total of eight) and one additional HDMI 1.3c output (for a total of two), delivering unprecedented connection capabilities for a preamplifier/processor. All inputs and outputs offer Deep-Color support (36-bit).

Anthem’s heralded Room Correction System (ARC-1™) also comes standard with the Statement D2v 3D and AVM 50v 3D. While equalizing frequency response in a room to achieve some generic (i.e. “flat”) response is a common approach to solving problems with room acoustics, it results in an unnatural-sounding spectral balance since it does not account for in-room cues that the human ear/brain mechanism expects. ARC is a true audiophile solution: it differs from other systems in that it uses proprietary processing to compute each speaker’s in-room frequency response and then computes a target frequency response for each to yield the most natural sound as determined by multiple double-blind listening tests spanning many years.

The estimated availability of the Statement D2v 3D and AVM 50v 3D is Q1 2012. Estimated US FMV for the Anthem Statement D2v 3D is $8,999 and for the Anthem AVM 50v 3D $5,999. The US FMV for the 3D upgrade kit is TBA. For more information, please visit www.anthemav.com.

BenQ Launches its First Full-HD 3D Home Cinema Projector

January 17th, 2012

New W7000 Features 2,000 ANSI Lumen Brightness, 50,000:1 Ultra-High Contrast Ratio, Frame Interpolation, and Native Rec. 709 Color Gamut

IRVINE, Calif. — Jan. 9, 2012 — BenQ America Corp. today introduced the company’s first full-HD 3D home cinema projector, the W7000. Providing consumers with the ultimate in 3D home entertainment, the W7000 is the first projector in the world to be accredited with Full HD 3D Certification by TÜV Rheinland, one of the most trusted certification institutes in Europe.

Powered by DLP Link(TM), the W7000 delivers stunning 1080p 3D images to both of the viewer’s eyes without the distraction of crosstalk. Consumers can enjoy brilliantly rendered 3D movies, live sports, and video games without the hassle of additional equipment. The W7000 provides 2,000 ANSI lumen high brightness, a 50,000:1 ultra-high contrast ratio with a dynamic iris, and support for all HDMI 1.4a 3D signal formats. BrilliantColor(TM) performance technology from Texas Instruments boosts midtone colors to heighten brightness levels, making images more precisely rendered than ever. In addition, the W7000 features VIDI(TM) lighting technology to deliver more lumens on screen than competing systems and normal lamps while increasing brightness by 15 percent for red and blue. The W7000 offers frame interpolation, providing noticeably smoother and more lifelike motion for action scenes by increasing the rate of frames per second and eliminating motion lag, distracting judders, and blurred shadows.

“The W7000 represents an exciting new chapter for us here at BenQ,” said Lars Yoder, President at BenQ America Corp. “What really sets the projector apart is its ability to deliver a ‘real 3D home cinema experience.’ The W7000 allows consumers to enjoy 3D content with full-HD resolution in both eyes. There is no crosstalk and additional emitters and transmission devices are not required, just fully immersive 3D enjoyment.”

The W7000 features the same full-HD-optimized optical system offered by all top-of-the-line home cinema projectors from BenQ, providing viewers with the highest level of clarity and sharpness in every full-HD image. For color precision that matches the human eye, the projector is compliant to the native Rec. 709 color gamut, one of the highest HD video standards for professional-grade home projectors. Featuring BenQ’s unique color management system — including independent 3D color control, preset mode, and user mode adjustment — the W7000 gives viewers the freedom to fine-tune hues, contrast, brightness, color temperature, gamma, and white balance levels to match their individual 2D and 3D viewing preferences. The system is ISFccc-certified by the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF), which enables viewers to enjoy a perfectly calibrated picture along with two optimized modes — ISF Day and ISF Night — for an unparalleled viewing experience.

For flexible placement in the home, the W7000 offers a versatile 1.5:1 zoom range and 1.62 to 2.43 throw ratio. The projector’s H+V lens shift technology provides up to 125 percent vertical and 40 percent horizontal lens shift adjustment with zero vertical offset. This allows the focal point of the lens to be adjusted in home theaters where center placement isn’t possible. Also, Panamorph(TM) lens compatibility allows viewers to show 2.35:1 aspect-format video — such as major studio movies — in its original widescreen format at maximum resolution with no image distortion or letterboxing.

The W7000 will be available for the North American market in Q1 2012 at an MSRP of $3,999. The unit will make its debut at the 2012 International CES Jan. 10-13, in Hilton Suite 28-105.

More information on the W7000 and the full line of BenQ products is available at www.BenQ.com.

Control4 Announces New High-Performance Automation Controllers

January 17th, 2012

PRESS RELEASE

Control4 Announces New High-Performance Automation Controllers

New one-room and whole-home controllers dramatically enhance consumer experiences with fluid on-screen control, blazingly fast media access, and instantaneous responsiveness.

Las Vegas, NV– January 10, 2012 at 7:00 AM PT – Control4, a leading innovator in residential and light commercial automation systems, announces two new models to its family of automation controllers: the flagship HC-800 and the versatile HC-250. Designed to maximize the power of Control4’s award-winning operating system, the
HC-800 and the HC-250 provide the ultimate Control4® experience for speed, performance and flexibility at an exceptional value for homeowners and businesses.

At the center of Control4’s updated line of controllers is the new HC-800, a powerful, flexible, multi-zone controller designed to serve as the cornerstone of any Control4 installation, no matter how large or demanding. The HC-800’s lightning-fast, next-generation 1.8GHz high-performance dual-core processor delivers instantaneous, interactive on-screen control and browsing of even the largest media libraries.

While the rack-mountable HC-800 measures in at an ultra-slim 1RU, it doesn’t skimp on connectivity with two RS-232 ports, six IR ports, and four contact and relay switches. It also features enough analog and digital outputs to deliver four independent zones of audio without the help of a secondary media player. Certified HDMI audio and video connectivity enables simple integration with the latest displays, A/V receivers, and surround processors, while component video connectivity guarantees compatibility with legacy systems.

“This is a blazingly fast controller that can keep up with just about anything you throw at it,” enthused Shawn LeMay, owner of Sound & Theater. Kevin Luther of Blackwire Designs agreed, saying, “The HC-800 is the most impressive controller I have ever tested. The on-screen performance is simply amazing and the speed of ZigBee is unlike anything before.”

The new HC-250 also joins the controller family as an elegant, low-profile form factor, single-room controller with a next-generation 1GHz processor that delivers exceptional speed and power. The HC-250 fits easily behind a TV, on a shelf, or in a rack and features new Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability enabled by a single CAT5 cable providing the electrical power and network connectivity for the HC-250 to control the entire room, greatly simplifying installation for the integrator.

The HC-250 supports both digital audio and video over HDMI, and boasts integrated Wireless-N WiFi and ZigBee for high-performance wireless networking. The HC-250 is perfect for single-room systems including media rooms, home theaters, and conference rooms, as well as for providing fluid on-screen control for each TV in larger residential and light commercial installations.

The HC-250 makes it easier than ever for an integrator to design a one-room AV solution as an upgrade-replacement for less-functional universal remote controls. Consumers can then build upon that system at their own pace — adding additional automation and control functionality over time.

“The performance, capability and design enhancements delivered by our new controllers translate to exceptional consumer experience,” says Control4 President and CEO, Martin Plaehn. “With our new controllers, consumer can browse very large media libraries and enjoy a selected movie, song, or playlist instantly, activate lighting before their finger leaves the touch screen, and control an entire home from their TV instantaneously. It will be hard to find a more responsive and capable system, and that’s going to delight consumers.”

Debuting at CES 2012, the new Control4 HC-800 and HC-250 enhance the current controller family, which also includes the HC-200, HC-300 and the HC-1000.

The HC-800 has a US MSRP of $999 and is available to order now for expected delivery in February.

The HC-250 has a US MSRP of $599 and is expected to be available in Q2 2012.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – January 5, 2012 – Representing a major breakthrough in the convergence of TV, gaming, streaming video, popular web apps and social media, Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL), a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, today announced that the new Foresight Platform, powered by the Marvell® ARMADA™ 1500 HD Media System-on-a-Chip (SoC), has been designed into the next generation of Google TVs debuting at CES 2012. Using Marvell’s award-winning Qdeo™ video processing technology, the ARMADA-based Foresight Platform is designed to deliver superior 3D video, impressively rich audio, striking 3D graphics and TV-friendly Web content.

“Marvell and Google have teamed up to change home entertainment forever – transforming the TV into the command center for our connected lifestyle. Marvell and Google are fundamentally changing the relationship between the producers and consumers of content – from Hollywood to Madison Avenue to publishing and major news networks – creating a dynamic, two-way experience featuring real-time global news, social network, entertainment and information,” said Weili Dai, Co-founder of Marvell. “I believe this is a major breakthrough movement and it’s just the beginning of our bigger vision. The same forces that are revolutionizing today’s television experience will transform numerous vertical applications for small businesses and large enterprises, enhancing the way we all work, connect with each other and collaborate globally.”

“The Google and Marvell teams have been working closely together to bring our combined software and chipset technologies to market to grow the Google TV ecosystem of manufacturers and devices. Marvell-powered Google TV solutions will enable powerful products to be brought to market at attractive prices,” said Mario Queiroz, VP, Product Management Google TV.

For consumers, today’s digital home offers an endless choice of devices and content. For OEMs and service providers, it’s an all-out sprint to create offerings that perform noticeably better than competitors and at mass-market prices. The Connected TV Marketing Association (CTVMA) estimates 123 million connected TVs will be sold worldwide in 2014. Those consumers will expect access to the services they love – Netflix, Pandora, YouTube, Picasa and many more – in a lightning-fast, crystal-clear and resource-friendly package.

Powerful, energy-efficient, ultra-scalable and immensely affordable, the ARMADA 1500 contains Marvell’s highest-performing ARM v6/7-compatible PJ4B SMP super-scalar dual-core CPU. The chip is designed to enable PC-like processing power to support Web browsing with support for Flash™ and other key technologies – with the aid of more than 6000 Dhrystone MIPS of computing horsepower, FPU v3.0, 512KB of L2 cache and WMMX2. The Foresight Platform is energy efficient and has advanced cell-phone like power management.

The ARMADA 1500 also contains Marvell’s award-winning Qdeo video processing for state-of-the-art HD and 3D video, including scaling, noise reduction, de-interlacing, low bit-rate internet video enhancement and FRC and color/contrast enhancement. The chip offers VMeta™, a multi-format video decoder/encoder/transcoder that can decode up to two simultaneous 1080p streams as well as a host of other video formats and containers. These features make the Foresight Platform ideal for Google TV, which requires tremendous processing power for its numerous applications at a cost effective price point.

Panamax/Furman Updates MyBlueBOLT.com Certification, Training, and Partnership Resources

January 6th, 2012

PETALUMA, Calif. — Dec. 15, 2011 — Panamax/Furman today announced that MyBlueBOLT.com has received an update to enhance the user’s experience with an improved certification process and training resources. Users of the BlueBOLT(R) energy management and control platform will appreciate such new additions as the “Maximizing BlueBOLT” video orientation, which helps new or existing users get the most out of their BlueBOLT experience and details value-added features such as auto-reboot, “connection lost” notifications, and an assisted setup of budget alerts in the energy management section.

An update for future BlueBOLT certified dealers, or current certified dealers looking to bring new personnel up to speed, is the completely new certification training video and simplified certification portal. The new online training video includes marked test questions, as well as an extended look at the BlueBOLT online interface. Dealers, installers, and contractors can obtain their BlueBOLT certification through this enhanced online training course via almost any Internet-connected tablet, computer, or mobile phone.

Automation and control-centric dealers or programmers will appreciate MyBlueBOLT.com’s new dedicated control partners’ page. This page acts as a reference for anyone checking the status of an automation platform driver or control module for their respective BlueBOLT or control-friendly power management hardware. These drivers, designed by third parties or specific Panamax/Furman control partners, provide an alternate method of power-related control through local IP or RS-232, depending on hardware. In most cases, programmers can leave BlueBOLT control and communication intact, allowing for simultaneous local automation, as well as cloud-based BlueBOLT control. This flexibility makes for a highly configurable automation environment and a better experience for the customer.
