Screen Research Launches New Line of SolidPix Screen Surfaces

With the addition of three new solid screen surfaces, Screen Research broadens its portfolio of high-performance screen solutions for the custom market.

Livermore, CA – October 2, 2008 – Screen Research, a world-class provider of innovative projector screen solutions for the custom home theater and professional markets, today added three new SolidPix™ screen materials to its portfolio of high-performance solid screen solutions. The SolidPix 14 and GrayPix™ 09 and 11 editions provide custom installers an expanded range of applications and set new standards in providing the highest levels of screen customization and performance.

Adding to Screen Research’s popular original SolidPix1™ solid surface, these new materials create a complete assortment that can address diverse installation requirements. Screen Research’s two new GrayPix surfaces have been developed specifically to address those installations that require greater contrast level enhancement. Custom installers now can choose from a full palette of screen solutions to achieve the optimal front projection solution. Each new material offers best-in-class performance and has been developed to provide an optimum mix of gain (on- and off-axis), viewing angle, color balance and contrast ratio performance

“Screen Research dealers now have more options for creating the perfect high-performance screen when paired with their desired projection systems and room lighting conditions,” said Jim McGall, vice president of sales for Screen Research. “Now our expanded SolidPix lineup – including two all-new GrayPix screens that enhance contrast ratio performance – can deliver a high-performance, superior-quality image for virtually every home theater installation.”

Highly customizable, the three new SolidPix materials are available on screens sized up to a sprawling 204 inches, and in a range of aspect ratios including 4:3, 16:9 widescreen, 2.35:1 CinemaScope, and even up to 2.70:1 ultra-wide screen formats. The new surfaces are delivered in all the company’s most popular customized screen solutions, including CineLuxe™ Fixed Frame Screens, Fixed Screens with Masking, TheaterCurve (16/9 and 2.35:1 solutions), XMask TheaterCurve, and Motorized Screens with or without masking.

SolidPix™ 14 White
This higher gain screen fabric features a white substrate with pearlized surface coating that delivers excellent gain characteristics, optimized contrast ratio performance, generous viewing angles and accurate color temperature renditions. Ideal for use with all projectors, SolidPix™ 14 is especially well suited to those projectors with slightly lower peak-white light output.

In addition, Screen Research’s two new GrayPix materials are optimal in environments where high-contrast gray screen surfaces can significantly improve the perceived contrast ratio by enhancing the black tones within the image.

GrayPix™ 11
GrayPix™ 11 was developed specifically for those home cinema situations characterized by slightly higher ambient light levels coupled with lower light output projectors. The vinyl base surface features a specialized coating technology originally developed for professional cinema screen venues, now optimized by Screen Research for the ultimate home cinema experience.

GrayPix™ 09
This remarkable, reference-level gray screen surface improves the total cinema system contrast ratio performance by enhancing the black/gray image tonality without sacrificing image uniformity. GrayPix™ 09 is ideal for use with all higher-powered projectors, and excels with those projectors that require higher contrast ratio performance and wide viewing angles.

All of Screen Research’s new surfaces will be available in October 2008.
