RGPC Extender IP is Now a Crestron Integrated Partner Product

Extender IP’s useful and time-saving diagnostic features allow Crestron dealers to identify and fix some power-related problems without making costly service calls.

New Orleans, LA – May 12, 2009Richard Gray’s Power Company (RGPC) proudly announces that RGPC Extender IP has been certified as the company’s first Crestron® Integrated Partner Program product. Extender IP, RGPC’s first networkable device, provides remote power monitoring and the ability to cycle power for up to eight connected components.

The Crestron Electronics, Inc. Integrated Partner Program allows partner manufacturers’ products to operate seamlessly in a Crestron systems environment. Integrated partner modules offer the Crestron control systems programmer a simplified, timesaving drag-and-drop solution for integrating partner products. The initiative makes it easy to take advantage of the enhanced functionality afforded by using a manufacturer’s serial, Ethernet or other enhanced interface.

When connected to a full power delivery system, the RGPC Extender IP allows Crestron dealers to remotely access and control power via its RS-232 connection. As a result, if a component or system “locks up,” the dealer can simply log into the system and flash the outlet from his desk, eliminating a costly and time-consuming service call.

Through the Crestron module, Extender IP can also set up automatic pings to monitor system status in the background. If the gear does not respond to a ping within user-defined criteria, Extender IP will automatically, and in the background, initiate a predefined action.

Automatic on/off events can be scheduled for convenience, and Extender IP’s highly customized firmware interface allows for unit naming, outlet naming, sensor naming and multiple user login/passwords to keep out well-intentioned owners. Finally, Extender IP allows power sequencing, enabling a high-draw system to be brought up in stages in order to prevent over-current situations.

Participation in Crestron’s Integrated Partner Program adds to the RGPC Extender IP’s already intelligent and proactive approach to power management. It can protect gear from unexpected spikes, can be programmed to turn power off at certain times of the day, and can flash outlets should a lockup occur. The RGPC Extender IP is the next generation of power protection and management, increasing performance and reliability while reducing service calls for the largest and most expensive installations.

The RGPC Extender IP has an MSRP of $995 and is shipping now. For more information on RGPC, please visit www.richardgrayspowercompany.com.
