Paradigm Introduces Soundtrack 2 System

Next-generation ultra-thin plug’n play powered soundbar and subwoofer system now features redesigned remote control, Bluetooth and aptX streaming technologies.

Denver, CO – CEDIA EXPO 2013 – Sept. 26th – 28th – Booth #SR-1 – Paradigm Electronics Inc. an international leader in speaker design and manufacturing has released its next-generation Soundtrack 2 System, part of its SHIFT Series. The system is a sleek, low-profile Paradigm-quality sound solution to complement ultra-thin flat panels. The 6-driver soundbar and compact, wireless subwoofer now includes Bluetooth and aptX streaming technologies, as well as AAC, A2Dp and AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile), allowing for high-quality lossless wireless audio streaming, via aptX, from compatible Buetooth-enabled devices. Discrete IR commands encourage comprehensive CI. There is no installation (other than wall mounting if desired) and no complicated technical setup. Paradigm’s powered Soundtrack 2 System offers an alternative to existing low-profile soundbars in the marketplace with its simple, space-saving, non-technical setup and sonic superiority based on Paradigm’ 30 years of sound innovation.

Paradigm has been setting the standard for high-performance sound for so many years it should come as no surprise that they’ve been focusing their attention on powered soundbar systems. One of the reasons they originally decided to tackle the niche was the lack of high-fidelity options. The physical configuration of a soundbar, drivers relatively close together, typically means poor stereo separation and a compromised soundstage. Not so in Paradigm soundbars. With a 30-year history of award-winning sound reproduction and one of the most comprehensive R&D facilities in the world, like its predecessor, the Soundtrack 2 System delivers an extraordinarily wide soundstage with superb stereo separation. Deep, articulate bass from the accompanying subwoofer make it the perfect solution for those short on space or craving a minimalist aesthetic. Wireless streaming? No problem with this system.

The speaker’s onboard user interface controls Power, Volume and Synching of the subwoofer with the soundbar. The redesigned remote is a full-function unit. Easy to use IR learning capability means Soundtrack 2 can learn power on/off, source select, volume up/down and mute from the television’s remote so that both the Soundtrack 2 System and the TV can be controlled with just one remote.

The 6-driver soundbar features two bass/midrange drivers, two passive radiators and two high-frequency drivers. 4-1/2? bass midrange drivers and 4? passive radiators are a mineral filled polypropylene delivering a low-mass, high-stiffness cone composition. The two high-frequency drivers feature 1? satin-anodized pure-aluminum dome tweeters for superb high-frequency performance, a rarity at this price point. Passive radiators promote extended lower frequencies. Driver complements are physically separated within the cabinet (left and right) ensuring sonic clarity and discrete channel separation.

The dual-ported subwoofer features an 8? laminated composite cone driver with a 1-1/2? high-temperature aluminum-wire voice coil. Oversized ports and driver are arranged in a perpendicular array to achieve the low-profile design with the dual ports promoting even bass response. The Class-D amplifier delivers 100 watts RMS Sustained and 300 watts Dynamic Peak power. Its DSP signal processing engine uses sophisticated mathematical algorithms to shape frequency response so that even at loud levels, bass is clear, musical and accurate. The subwoofer is sized to fit into a standard A/V cabinet, if desired.

Snap-in feet are included for placing the soundbar on a flat surface. For on-wall placement, the feet snap out quickly and the user snaps in wall brackets that screw into a wall. The subwoofer can be positioned vertically in the supplied cradle or horizontally, even hidden away under a couch with feet left attached.

The soundbar’s rear panel offers digital optical and analog stereo inputs for hook-up of Blu-ray/DVD/CD players, gaming consoles, satellite receivers or other external sources. Analog outputs are included for wired subwoofer connection. Connections can be made via the soundbar or through the television, increasing the amount of inputs and improving the user experience. Users can opt for a wireless or wired sub. It’s all easy, and in just a few minutes, you are immersed in your favorite music, movie or video game.

“When it comes to value-oriented all-in-one powered audio solutions, the Soundtrack™ System 2 is a winner. This is not your typical soundbar. It offers a high level of performance with a non-technical setup in a placement-friendly format. One of the most exciting aspects is the addition of Bluetooth with APTX streaming capabilities which we think is going to be a huge draw. Whether as a primary sound system or a secondary system, customers are going to experience sound with superb stereo separation and more dynamic range than anything else in this price range. It’s an ideal solution for people who want a great-sounding system without any requirement for additional electronics,” said Mark Aling, Senior Director of Marketing for Paradigm Electronics.

Soundbar dimensions (without feet or brackets) H x W x D: 5″ x 36″ x 2-1/4″ (12.9 cm x 92.3 cm x 5.8 cm) with grille. The grille is removable. Subwoofer dimensions are: 13-3/4″ x 18-1/2″ x 5″ (34.7 cm x 46.4 cm x 12.9 cm). Remote includes two ‘AAA’ batteries.

The Soundtrack 2 System will be available in a Black finish from select Paradigm Dealers throughout North America and also direct from the Paradigm SHIFT website: www.paradigm.com/shift. Estimated MAP is $899 (USD) system. Estimated availability, January 2014.
