Panamax UPS Family Takes Home Resi Award in 'Best Power Management Product' Category at CEDIA EXPO 2009

PETALUMA, Calif. — Sept. 22, 2009 — Panamax today announced that its UPS family of battery back-ups was recognized with a Residential Systems Resi Award in the “Best Power Management Product” category at CEDIA EXPO 2009 in Atlanta. The Panamax UPS family prevents critical equipment from losing its setup configuration and stored data while avoiding hard-disk crashes in the event of a sustained power event. In addition, the units safeguard projection bulbs by allowing them to cool down properly before shutting off, saving money on replacement costs.

Presented by Residential Systems magazine, the sixth-annual Resi Award entries were reviewed by an esteemed panel of independent judges from the CEDIA channel and the industrial design community, whose task was to recognize the most innovative industrial designs of products in the custom installation industry.

“It is truly an honor to win this prestigious award, and it speaks volumes to the technology and innovation that went into every product in our UPS family,” said Dave Keller, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Panamax/Furman. “In addition to preventing critical equipment from losing its setup configuration and stored data, and safeguarding projection bulbs, our UPS products offer a number of features that set them apart in the market. From hybrid UPS/power management units to compact designs to our new BlueBOLT™ technology, the Panamax UPS family can meet the specific needs of any home theater system.”

Panamax UPS Product Family
• The MX5102 is Panamax’s first hybrid UPS/power management product, combining power management, surge protection, and battery back-up for home theater systems all in a single unit.
• For a clean-looking installation, the MB850 measures just 10.25 inches by 8.875 inches by 4.375 inches (length x height x width) and weighs only 16 pounds. The compact form factor allows it to be placed close to equipment, which is especially useful in the protection of home theater projectors.
• The MB1000’s voltage regulation prevents home theater equipment lock-ups due to power sags while keeping connected components from heating up. An RS232 serial communication port provides communication between the UPS and a HTPC or home automation system.
• Since the announcement of the Resi Award, the MB1500 was added to the UPS family. Remote or local IP control is an available option for the MB1500 through Panamax’s new BlueBOLT technology, which allows the unit to be managed either remotely or integrated into a home network. An optional 2-RU 1500VA battery extension pack (BATT1500-EXT) is also available. The BATT1500-EXT can provide the MB1500 with more than three times the extended battery life.

All products in the Panamax UPS family are available now at MSRPs of $299.95 for the MB850, $649.95 for the MX5102, $729.95 for the MB1000, and $1299.95 for the MB1500.
