Accell Introduces MHL Cable for Mobile to DTV Connectivity at CES 2012

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

Accell’s MHL cable connects an MHL-enabled Smartphone or tablet to any MHL-enabled HDTV to display games, videos, movies and more

Las Vegas – Jan. 3, 2012 – Accell, a provider of premium audio/video and computer accessories, today announced the company will be exhibiting its new MHL™ cable at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show from Jan. 10-13, 2012, in booth #21848.  Accell’s MHL cable provides a direct connection from MHL-enabled mobile devices to MHL-enabled HDTVs, so consumers can view and share high-definition (HD) content.

MHL technology is a rapidly growing HD audio/video connectivity standard that enables a mobile device with MHL technology to deliver 1080p uncompressed video with up to eight channels of digital audio.  MHL-enabled HDTVs and displays also provide power back to the mobile device when connected, ensuring that the phone battery is charged and ready to use.

“With the Smartphone and tablet market growing at a rapid rate, Accell has established itself as a market leader by engineering first-to-market products, such as our latest cable for MHL technology,” stated Michael Weizer, director of marketing, Accell.

MHL cable product features:

  • Transmits HD video up to 1080p and 7.1 surround sound audio with no latency, which makes it ideal for gaming
  • Supports continuous charging of the mobile device when connected
  • Supports the MHL feature of controlling the connected device with the TV remote

“Since the release of our specification in June of last year, it’s been great to see the steady release of MHL-enabled products entering the market, including the first MHL-enabled HDTVs,” said Tim Wong, president, MHL, LLC. “Accessories such as Accell’s MHL cable allow consumers to connect their new MHL-enabled Smartphones directly to an MHL-enabled TV without the need for any other power cords or adapters. You can then interact with your favorite games, photos, movies and more on the big screen.”

The MHL cable is the third product released by Accell for MHL-enabled displays and devices.  Other products include an MHL-to-HDMI® adapter and an MHL-to-HDMI adapter with an HDMI cable.

IOGEAR KVM and Wireless 3D Products Earn CES Innovations Honoree Status

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

IOGEAR’s 4-port Dual-View Mini DisplayPort KVMP Switch with Peripheral Sharing (GCS1924) and Wireless 3D Media Kit (GW3DMKIT) Honored by Consumer Electronics Association

New York, NY – November 14, 2011 – IOGEAR, a leader in convergence through connectivity products, today announced that it has been named an International CES Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for the 4-port Dual-View Mini DisplayPort KVMP Switch with Peripheral Sharing (GCS1924) and Wireless 3D Media Kit (GW3DMKIT).  Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 32 product categories.

Honored in the Computer Peripherals category, the 4-port Dual-View Mini DisplayPort KVMP Switch with Peripheral Sharing charts a revolutionary new direction in KVM switch functionality by combining a 4-port Mini DisplayPort switch with a 2-port USB 2.0 hub. With this technology, the GCS1924 allows users to access four computers from a single USB keyboard, USB mouse, and dual-view Mini-DisplayPort console monitors. GCS1924’s independent switching feature allows the KVM focus to be on one computer while the USB peripheral focus is on another. This eliminates the need to purchase a separate USB hub or stand-alone peripheral sharing switch.

GCS1924 further improves on previous KVM designs with the latest Mini-DisplayPort and Mini-TOSLINK connectors. It provides digital video and audio from the computers with support for ultra high resolutions up to 2560 x 1600 and brilliant digital surround sound.

Earning honoree status in the Home Theater Audio/Video Accessories category, IOGEAR’s Wireless 3D Media Kit (GW3DMKIT) brings home entertainment to a new level of connectivity, flexibility, convenience and décor. Capable of streaming Full HD 1080p / 3D content with digital audio up to 100 feet without line-of-site placement, the GW3DMKIT enables users to experience 3D, HD or standard definition content with more ease and affordability than ever before.  Wirelessly stream HD audio/video with 3D support and connect up to four different HDMI® A/V devices such as, 3D/Bluray players, DVR/Set-top boxes and game consoles. Total IR control creates a complete system to keep your electronics hidden away for discrete, uninhibited audio/video streaming.

“CES is without a doubt the most important consumer electronics event. Trends are set and technology is launched that defines what’s important for the coming year,” said Doug Turner, vice president of sales at IOGEAR. “We’re honored to have two products recognized by the CEA judges, especially considering it recognizes the importance of convergence and KVM technologies, two segments that are very important to IOGEAR.”

The prestigious Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the producer of the International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow, and  have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976. The Best of Innovations honor is awarded to the products with the highest judges’ scores and will be featured in the Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase at the 2012 International CES.

IOGEAR’s 4-port Dual-View Mini DisplayPort KVMP Switch with Peripheral Sharing and Wireless 3D Media Kit will be displayed at the 2012 International CES, which runs January 10-13, 2012 inLas Vegas,Nevada. Honorees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled: the Official Press Event of the International CES from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 8 in the Venetian Ballroom of the Venetian.

The Innovations entries are judged based on the following criteria:

• Engineering qualities, based on technical specs and materials used

• Aesthetic and design qualities

• The product’s intended use/function and user value

• Unique/novel features that consumers would find attractive

• How the design and innovation of the product compares to other products in the marketplace

Products chosen as an Innovations honoree reflect innovative design and engineering of the entries. Examples may include the first time various technologies are combined in a single product or dramatic enhancements to previous product designs.

Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering honoree products are featured on www.CESweb.org/Innovations, which lists product categories, as well as each product name, manufacturer information, designer, description, photo and URL.

IOGEAR Advances Video Streaming with Wireless 3D Digital Kit

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

The latest A/V streaming kit wirelessly transmits 1080p HD / 3D video content and 5.1 digital audio up to 100 feet, through standard walls.

Foothill Ranch, Calif. – November 9, 2011 – IOGEAR, a leader in convergence through connectivity products, announces the Wireless 3D Digital Kit (GW3DHDKIT), which reduces cable clutter and provides flexible and reliable 1080p HD and 3D wireless streaming for up to two rooms. Relying on the 5GHz wireless spectrum, the Wireless 3D Digital Kit does not require a line-of-sight placement, and delivers uncompressed full 1080p, 3D content and 5.1 digital audio up to 100 feet (figure assumes ideal wireless conditions).

The IOGEAR Wireless 3D Digital Kit consists of a transmitter and receiver with connections that allow it to stream standard, HD or 3D resolution content from up to two HDMI® enabled devices. Included with the kit are an IR blast cable, a remote control, and two power adapters. To add a second room, one HDTV can connect directly to the transmitter’s loop-through (local) port, while a second HDTV simultaneously receives content via the wireless receiver.  A “Floating HDTV” can be set up by connecting two HD or 3D media sources to the wireless transmitter while a wall-mounted TV receives content from the connected wireless receiver.

The Wireless 3D Digital Kit is housed in a sleek black casing with rounded edges, giving it a modern but understated appearance. The unobtrusive transmitter, receiver, IR blast cable and remote control underscore just what a powerful device the Wireless 3D Digital Kit really is. Streaming high-bandwidth 3D and 1080p content up to 100 feet is made possible by the use of 5GHz technology, which is generally less susceptible to network interference and can carry more data than its 2.4 GHz relative.

By supporting devices such as 3D Blu-ray and DVD players, DVR/set-top boxes and game consoles, the Wireless 3D Digital Kit allows users to keep their components neatly out-of-sight and keep the focus on their celebrated HD or 3D TVs. Perfect as a DIY retrofit solution, the built-in Infrared (IR) pass-though allows user control over source devices that are hidden away in a different location. Additionally, the GW3DHDKIT is HDCP 2.0 Compliant and requires no software or driver installation.

“Our Wireless 3D Digital Kit advances the technology of streaming A/V content and is a perfect fit for those who already have a 3D display or are planning to get one,” said Bill Nguyen, Senior Marketing Manager for IOGEAR. “The GW3DHDKIT offers an easy, affordable way to stream both HD and 3D entertainment discretely with multiple retrofit and installation options.”

For its initial launch, the Wireless 3D Digital Kit will be available online at Costco.com. A nationwide roll-out that includes shopIOGEAR.com, brick and mortar retailers and online resellers will happen in later in Q4 2011. MSRP of the Wireless 3D Digital Kit is $379.95.
