Panamax/Furman Names Home Theater Design Group as Winner of ‘How Do You BlueBOLT(R)?’ Contest

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

PETALUMA, Calif. — April 27, 2011 — Panamax/Furman today announced that Texas-based A/V integrator Home Theater Design Group has won the company’s “How do you BlueBOLT(R)?” contest. Home Theater Design Group’s prize is a trip for two to the wine country of Sonoma County, Calif. The getaway includes round trip flights for two, two nights lodging, one day of touring local vintners, and five meals, including one evening of fine dining in Sonoma.

“How do you BlueBOLT?” was open to anyone who interacted with the BlueBOLT power and energy management platform, which provides secure, hosted IP (Internet Protocol) power control and energy management for A/V systems. To enter the contest, participants simply had to fill out an online entry form and include a true story on their experience using BlueBOLT. A random drawing of all contest entries was held to determine the winner.

“We are very excited to have won the contest and thank Panamax/Furman for this wonderful prize,” said Brad Griffin of Home Theater Design Group. “Our BlueBOLT story is that we are using the platform to monitor an extremely complex system with over 60 static IP addresses related to the automation system alone. With so many devices requiring the Internet, it’s important for us to be able to monitor the system’s status 24/7 in order to make sure things are operating properly, something which is easily achieved with the BlueBOLT-enabled F1500-UPS.”

“The response to our ‘How do you BlueBOLT?’ contest was overwhelming, and it was truly rewarding for us to hear about all the amazing experiences users are having with the platform,” said Dave Keller, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Panamax/Furman. “We thank everyone who participated and shared their BlueBOLT story, and extend our congratulations to Home Theater Design Group.”

Procella Audio Upgrades the P8 Main/Surround Speaker System With Neodymium High-Frequency Compression Driver and New 8-Inch Woofer

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

- Neodymium 1.5 inch compression driver mounted on Procella-designed constant directivity waveguide improves high-frequency extension

- 8 inch woofer driver increases the power handling and output of the P8, especially at low frequencies around the recommended subwoofer crossover point

- New version of the P8 is shipping now worldwide with no price increase, making the speaker an even greater value

Stockholm, Sweden, – March 1, 2011 –  Procella Audio, manufacturer of high-performance high-output speaker systems for home and professional cinema and music applications, revealed today a set of improvements to the THX Approved P8 loudspeaker that elevate its acclaimed performance. The P8 now uses a new 1.5 inch Neodymium compression driver mounted on a custom Procella constant directivity waveguide and a new 8 inch woofer driver, all made specifically for Procella Audio. With these pro audio components, the P8 achieves improved high-frequency extension, higher power handling, lower distortion and even better dispersion control around its crossover frequency. The new version of the P8 is shipping now worldwide, and its price remains unchanged at a suggested U.S. retail price of USD $2,599.00 each.

The Procella P8 is a high-output screen channel or surround channel speaker, designed for high-resolution, wide dynamic range playback of 24 bit/96KHz recordings and soundtracks. It is capable of THX reference level (105 dB continuous) at a distance of 4 meters. Its Identical Voice™ design and crossover makes the speaker ideal for use in systems with Procella P815 and P6 loudspeakers, achieving flat phase response and ultra-low group delay for optimized three-dimensional room response, and symmetrical coverage of high frequencies to all seats in small and large rooms alike. With a shallow depth of just 7.9” and a back baffle angled at 7.5 degrees, the speaker is ideal for wall mounting. The speaker is THX Approved for integration into professional rooms, including THX Certified Screening Rooms and THX pm3 Studios (professional Multichannel Mixing and Monitoring).

“We are very pleased with the improvements that we have been able to make to the P8. These new components make the speaker capable of more output at both frequency extremes, increasing both its accuracy and its maximum output,” explained Anders Uggelberg, founding partner and lead designer of Procella Audio. “We have worked closely with our component suppliers to source and develop these new drivers, and they have enabled us to make an enhanced version of one of our key products.”

With a 1.5 inch voice coil and a 1 inch throat, the new compression driver has very high efficiency and low distortion, particularly in comparison to dome tweeters. Mounted on a Procella-designed constant directivity waveguide, it delivers smooth high-frequency response throughout the listening area, and it provides greater extension of the upper highs to 20 KHz.  The new 8” woofer, which can be identified by its round basket shape, has increased output capability in the mid-bass area near its recommended subwoofer crossover point of 80 Hz, as well as higher power handling overall, further improving the P8’s dynamic range and maximum output. A new crossover design completes the upgrades, working in combination with the new drivers to improve the radiation pattern of the loudspeaker in the critical midrange around its crossover point, producing even greater coherency of sound.

RSL Speaker Systems Announces New Speaker Line. Exclusive Compression GuideTM Technology achieves high end performance at remarkably low prices.

RSL Speaker Systems Announces New Speaker Line. Exclusive Compression GuideTM Technology achieves high end performance at remarkably low prices.
The line consists of three new models. The RSL CG4 is a compact 2 way Compression GuideTM speaker that can be used along with a subwoofer in a home theater or in an audiophile quality stereo system. The RSL Speedwoofer 10 is a subwoofer featuring Compression GuideTM Technology that allows it to have a faster transient response than most subwoofers. The result is a more natural integration of the subwoofer into the home theater or stereo system. Compression GuideTM also allows the Speedwoofer 10 to provide the deep bass response normally associated with much larger subwoofers. The RSL Speedwoofer 10 features wireless remote control of volume and crossover frequency along with a beefy, fully analog class A/B amplifier conservatively rated at 375 watts RMS.
The third model is the RSL CG 24 Monitor. This is a relatively compact speaker that also features Compression GuideTM Technology. It is the latest in the long line of RSL Studio Monitors that have achieved notoriety in the recording and broadcast industries. It is designed to be ideal either as a studio monitor, when used with the RSL Speedwoofer 10 or as a center channel to complement the RSL CG4s in a home theater system. All models also feature high-gloss black piano finished cabinets.
Compression Guide Technology is a different approach to speaker tuning, which dramatically increases the clarity of the voices and instruments as well as improving the soundstage (the company’s slogan is, “Hear outside the box”). It also results in significant bass extension with less boominess and overhang.
According to RSL’s President Howard Rodgers, “While there may be dozens of fine speaker brands available today, RSL’s new line is a superior value when judged by price versus sonic performance. We offer speaker sound quality that we’re certain will impress picky audiophiles, at prices much lower than those currently found in the high end market.”
Rodgers attributes this to their exclusive Compression Guide Technology, RSL’s 40 years of speaker manufacturing experience, the use of high quality parts, and direct prices. RSL Speakers are available directly from their website www.rslspeakers.com.
Back in the 70’s and 80’s, Southern California audio fans were familiar with RSL Speakers sold at Rogersound Labs audio/video stores throughout the area. During those decades, RSL was one of the best selling brands in the area. The RSL Studio Monitors were a familiar sight in many of the L.A.’s recording studios and radio stations and were owned by many of LA’s top musicians. They still have a loyal following. RSL speakers stood for high quality and great sound at reasonable, factory-direct prices.
All RSL speakers come with a 30 day satisfaction money back guaranty. RSL will even pay shipping both ways so that customers will wind up paying nothing to try them, if not completely delighted.

Pro Audio Technology Broadens Presence In CI Market With Affordable Options For Distributed Audio And Media Rooms

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Huntington Beach, CA (January 28, 2011) – Building on the success of its initial high-output in-wall loudspeakers, Pro Audio Technology (PRO) has expanded its offering of designer-friendly products to include new in-wall, in-ceiling and subwoofer models. Featuring professional components and DSP optimization, the new models bring PRO’s unique high-output performance to a lower price point than previously available.

The SCRS-5iw in-wall loudspeaker joins a ¾-inch compression driver to a PRO-designed elliptical horn for broad dispersion of high frequency energy. Its 5-inch woofer employs a powerful ferrite magnet with an oversized voice-coil, resulting in a high-sensitivity design capable of output levels of 110dB and a dynamic range typically associated with larger floor standing loudspeakers. Measuring only 3 7/8-inch deep, the SCRS-5iw installs easily in a standard 2 x 4 stud bay.

The SCRS-25iw ceiling loudspeaker integrates the drivers of the SCRS-5iw in a dual woofer configuration providing greater sensitivity and higher maximum output level of approximately 115dB. Functionality is enhanced by an angled baffle design – ideal for applications where directing sound toward a specific listening position is desirable. The all-metal construction provides robust build-quality commensurate with the product’s bulletproof performance and includes a back-box that easily fits between 12-inch on-center joists.

To compliment their full-range speakers, PRO is introducing two new subwoofers. The LFC-12im features a highly specialized 12-inch woofer in a shallow enclosure engineered for easy retrofit installation in a traditional 2 x 4 stud bay. A powerful neodymium motor and huge 5-inch voice-coil deliver deep, tuneful bass at output levels belying the LFC-12im’s unobtrusive size (115dB max output). For more demanding applications, PRO’s new LFC-14sm high-impact floor-standing subwoofer employs a proprietary long throw 15-inch driver housed in a compact enclosure. A black textured paint finish is standard. Wood veneer is available at an up-charge.
Each product is engineered for simple retrofit installation, requiring only minutes to install and all in-wall and in-ceiling models come with a bezel-less, paintable metal grille. Like other PRO products, the new loudspeaker models are designed for bi-amp operation using the company’s DSP-driven digital amplifier technology to maximize performance. Passive (single amp) operation will also be available.

Pricing is available through authorized PRO dealers.
