IOGEAR Universal Wi-Fi N Adapter Wirelessly Connects Ethernet Enabled Devices to the Internet

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

An Ethernet port is all that’s needed to connect Blu-rayplayers, gaming consoles, LCD / LED TVs and other devices to a home’s wireless router.

Foothill Ranch, Calif. – May 10, 2011 – IOGEAR, a leader in convergence and connectivity products, announces a new Universal Wi-Fi N Adapter (GWU627) for connecting A/V devices to a home network via a wireless router. With online gaming and media consumption rapidly increasing, the need for robust and reliable network access is growing. While many manufacturers are integrating network connections within products, progress is not keeping up with demand.

The IOGEAR Universal Wi-Fi N Adapter provides an affordable and stable solution for equipping Ethernet-enabled devices with wireless network access. The word “universal” is often thrown around, but the Universal Wi-Fi N Adapter works with ANY device featuring an Ethernet port, no brand or device-specific Wi-Fi USB adapter needed. Simply connect via Ethernet and access is gained through the home’s network router.

IOGEAR’s Universal Wi-Fi N Adapter supports the IEEE 802.11n standard, meaning there is no need for cables or re-wiring of the home. Home entertainment systems can be placed where the user wants, without wires, and still maintain a strong Wi-Fi connection. With multiple adapters, users can bring a wireless connection to a multitude of devices and never worry about latency issues or bothersome buffering.

Helping the adapter handle user demands, IOGEAR outfitted the GWU627 with dual antennas (1T1R) that provide data transfer rates of up to 150Mbps while reducing Wi-Fi dead zones in the wireless environment. This new standard provides more than adequate bandwidth for faster file transfer, music downloads, video streaming, on-line gaming and HD multi-media applications.

“An abundance of quality digital content is creating demand for devices that can conveniently access and stream all our music, videos, games and more,” said Bill Nguyen, senior marketing manager at IOGEAR. “IOGEAR’s goal is to make connectivity dynamic and the Universal Wi-Fi N Adapter does this by providing wireless Internet access to fully utilize a game console, Blu-ray, DVR, or HD TV’s built-in widgets, while offering convenience of placement and eliminating cable clutter.”

In addition to the increased speed and bandwidth, users will benefit from the Universal Wi-Fi N Adapter’s compatibility with existing 802.11b/g routers and access points. There’s no need to replace legacy network hardware. The unit also features a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button offering a quick and secure network setup. On a new wireless network, WPS will automatically configure it with a network name (SSID) and strong WPA data encryption and authentication.

The Universal Wi-Fi N Adapter, model GWU627 is now shipping with an MSRP of $49.95. The GWU627 is also the first IOGEAR product to be available at Gamestop stores nationwide.

IOGEAR Adapter Adds HD Display with Audio through USB 2.0 Port, No Technical Degree Needed

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

New USB to HD adapter replaces the need to install video cards, a complicated, costly and often impossible task with many computers.

Foothill Ranch, Calif. – May 2, 2011 – IOGEAR, a leader in convergence and connectivity products, announces a new USB to HD Adapter (GUC2025H) designed to connect additional HD displays to a desktop or laptop computer using a USB 2.0 cable. Utilizing the increased bandwidth of HDMI and DisplayLinktechnology, IOGEAR is now able to provide both audio and video support, a huge advancement from the traditional internal video cards or external adapters / cards (VGA / DVI) that can only support video.

With a USB to HD Adapter in place, laptop users will be able to have up to three displays showing content; the laptop screen, a second display via the built-in VGA port and a third from the USB port courtesy of IOGEAR’s new adapter. In the home, the GUC2025H complements convergence since it provides a hard-wired streaming solution of any standard or HD content from the PC to the TV with only a single HDMI cable connection. Youtube, Hulu and other computer content can be streamed to the TV interference-free with ease.

Outside the home, the USB to HD adapter is made for multitasking. Office accounting and marketing personnel will appreciate the ability to view large spreadsheets across two screens without sacrificing continuity. Graphic designers can queue up editing tools and pallets without constantly minimizing and maximizing windows, while data analysts can type in one document while viewing reference material elsewhere. Lastly, anyone who works heavily with email will appreciate the ability to open attachments on one screen while staying in the inbox to manage email functions.

Installing the USB to HD Adapter video card is a quick and easy for anyone who’s ever plugged in a mouse or other USB peripheral. No need for multiple software and hardware updates to get both audio and video, and no need for an external power supply since the adapter runs via the USB port. With video cards, it’s sometimes necessary to remove a computer’s back panel, locate the existing video card, remove and replace it with a new one, all without affecting any of the sensitive electronics. While certainly possible, these actions can void a manufacturer warranty, or worse, cook the motherboard.

Because the IOGEAR USB to HD Adapter connects externally, there is no threat of memory loss or inadvertent collateral damage from the installation. With support of resolutions up to 1600×1200 / 1920×1080 and 32-bit color, the USB to HD adapter shares content at its ideal resolution for the purest viewing experience possible.

The development of HDMI has opened connectivity doorways for IOGEAR and other manufacturers to design convergence products that add new functionality to pre-existing electronic devices,” said Bill Nguyen, senior marketing manager for IOGEAR. “Our innovative new USB to HD Adapter is one solution that’s allowing consumers to reap the benefits of HDMI connectivity.”

The USB to HD Adapter model GUC2025H is now shipping with an MSRP of $99.95.

Kordz Introduces Innovative PRO Series Interconnects

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Home entertainment is simplified via cable series that can interchangeably carry either analog video and line audio in a slim, easy-to-install profile.

Sunnyvale, CA – March 23, 2011–Kordz, a leading manufacturer of high-purity HDMI cables, announces the new line of PRO Series AV Interconnects with a specifically engineered coaxial cable design.

Employing 75ohm impedance characteristics, as well as low capacitance and resistance, the new PRO Series offers universal compatibility for audio and video applications in one, compact cable. The tight spaces behind today’s AV equipment demand the thin and shallow mounting depth of the Interconnects cables, a design characteristic that makes the PRO series a perfect fit for the latest installations.

The new Interconnects line includes a Single AV, Twin AV, Triple AV, TOSlink Optical Cables, and VGA Cables. Each Kordz Interconnect features Kordz ProFit™ connectors that are designed for maximum tolerance to create a consistent, reliable socket fit. The new PRO Series relies on Kordz’s leading manufacturing construction technologies to deliver superior build integrity and performance at the right price.

“With the new Interconnects, a single cable closes the gap between legacy equipment and the latest technology to deliver consistently superior video and audio,” said Michael Schaller, Director of Kordz USA. “This cord series represents everything that custom installers love about the Kordz brand—an amazing product at a great value.”

Relying on a slim, short plug design, the PRO Series Interconnects have a shallow mounting depth and recessed receptacle compatibility. Each cord style can fit RCA sockets that are slightly recessed like ones commonly used on some subwoofers.  Combined with good cable flexibility, the short plug ensures a shallow mounting for the inevitable tight spaces behind AV gear.

All AV models are 100 percent double shielded, a benefit for both audio and video quality. The versatile design can split into channels to create different combinations. For example, the PRO-3AV can be used to connect component video, composite video and stereo audio, or split apart if an installer actually needs 2AV and a 1AV is available.

To simplify installation and maintenance, each Interconnects model includes color rings that can be applied onsite to identify different applications (e.g., yellow for composite video) depending on the cord model. Certain models, like the 2AV, which is intended for stereo audio only, is pre-fitted with red and white rings.

The Kordz brand is designed and built especially for the custom market and has quickly grown and gained a reputation for offering true, mid-to-high-end performance with a primary focus on proven construction methods and dedication to quality and provable performance. Kordz products also feature 100 percent recyclable packaging, which means no blister pack to fight open, less waste into landfills, and easy to keep stocked in vans and shops.  All products include the Kordz Lifetime warranty

Kordz Interconnects are expected to be available in April 2011.  For more information on Kordz Interconnects, visit www.kordz.com.

Kordz Delivers Quality at Long Lengths with the EVS 7-15m Series

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Kordz is proud to introduce the world’s most flexible, long length, fully compliant High Speed HDMI cable.

Sunnyvale, CA – June 2010 – Kordz, a leading manufacturer of high purity HDMI cables, announces its new long length EVS 7-15m series cable. EVS is an innovative blend of technology and practical function, employing Redmere Technology’s patented power harvesting EQ module to permit true 10.2Gbps High Speed performance, integrated into a cable profile that maximizes installation ease and longevity.

EVS has a light-weight flat profile with connectors that stay in place as the starting points. The flat profile makes it easy to slide through walls, run along an edge, or slide underneath carpet. Full high speed capacity makes it a one stop solution for running long distances – without the aid of additional repeaters. The long length allows for the need of only a single cable which will result in less additional connections and further reduce any possible jitter or skew problems.

“Fully compliant and built with quality, the EVS 7-15m series gives installers longer lengths for larger projects without compromising performance,” said Michael Schaller, Director of Kordz USA. “EVS is a true blend of our design and soldering techniques and central functionality for a cable.

The EVS 7-15m series gives integrators a reliable long length cabling solution, offering all of the performance and relative ‘future proofing’ expectations of their clients. The combination of build quality, flexibility and affordability allows EVS to be deployed in virtually any environment, even where space is limited. It also answers a concern of custom installers by having firm fit connectors for >2kg extraction force, alleviating the need for locking HDMI.

The EVS has HDMI High Speed compliance up to 15m with 2% volume silver coated conductors for a greater uncompressed video and audio performance. It is HDML Ethernet channel compliant to 10m and its 12mm cable bend radius is the lowest in the world at this length.

The EVS 7-15m series will be available at the end of June and is priced starting at $279.00.
