DEFINITIVE TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCES ALL NEW BIPOLAR SUPERTOWERS® WITH MATCHING CENTER AND SURROUND MODELS

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Nine new products are complete ground-up redesigns, introduced to dealers at CEProLive! virtual trade show

BALTIMORE, June 17, 2010 – Definitive Technology today announced for fall delivery four new models of Bipolar Series SuperTower® floor-standing wood-enclosure loudspeakers with built-in subwoofers; three new matching center speakers, two of which feature built-in powered woofers; and two new matching bipolar surround speakers. The nine new models replace 11 older SKUs. Every part of every new model has been redesigned and improved for dramatic upgrades in appearance, functionality and performance. The new BP product line will be available initially only in the United States, Canada and most Latin American markets; versions for Europe and Asia will follow in 2011.

Definitive launched its business 20 years ago with a single model of bipolar loudspeaker with speakers on the front and rear panels of the enclosure to radiate sound in an omnidirectional pattern for more life-like imaging. In 1995 Definitive pioneered the concept of “powered towers” by incorporating powered subwoofers into Bipolar series floor-standing speakers dubbed “SuperTowers.” The new models represent the third generation of SuperTowers and make use of Definitive’s most advanced technologies, including a new patent-pending approach to bipolar speaker design called Forward Focused Bipolar Array, which combines the huge, life-like imaging benefits of bipolar designs with the pinpoint localization of soloists of traditional forward radiating speakers. All four floor-standing models utilize all new midrange and woofer drivers, tweeters, amplifiers and enclosure construction for a total makeover in appearance and performance. (more…)

Gefen Implements “Fast Switching Technology” on all Products using HDMI v1.3

Exciting Fast Switching Technology Resolves Slow Switching Time Between HDMI Source Selection for a Fast and Efficient Performance

CHATSWORTH, CA – Connectivity solutions provider Gefen today announced that all its HDMI v1.3 products are capable of using new Fast Switching Technology (FST).

This proprietary new technology emerged to better handle HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content protection) handshaking, which in the past could take up to ten seconds in transition when switching between sources.

With FST enabled, those ten seconds have been reduced to nearly no delay when switching sources, with high definition video appearing on the screen or display immediately with no latency.

“This new FST was initiated based on our customers’ feedback to speed the switching time between HDMI input sources, and make the overall system more user friendly,” explained Hagai Gefen, president and CEO, Gefen. “Though cutting down ten seconds may not seem like a long time, it was presenting challenges to installers when switching from component-based connections to HDMI, and now we have the perfect solution.”

FST is currently being implemented on all current and newly developed Gefen products using HDMI specifications

Well Stimulation Materials

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Bharatbook added a new report on “Well Stimulation Materials” which tells US demand for oil and gas well stimulation materials. Well Stimulation Materials to 2014

Rebounding oilfield activity to fuel US well stimulation materials demand
US demand for oil and gas well stimulation materials is projected to post doubledigit gains and exceed $7 billion in 2014, buoyed by renewed efforts to reduce dependence on foreign energy sources, particularly from unfriendly or unstable countries. Well stimulation services are necessary in order to maximize the output from aging US oil and gas fields, and to optimize production in unconventional settings such as tight gas, shale and coal bed methane. The Haynesville Shale in East Texas/Western Louisiana and the Marcellus Shale in the Eastern US are among the areas generating the most enthusiasm in terms of their productive potential; and hydraulic fracturing is critical to the successful development of these formations.

In conventional production environments, the increasing prevalence of deeper wells in harsher environments — such as in extremely deep offshore waters — will increase the demand for higher performance engineered ceramic proppants and other value-added materials. The exploitation of coal beds and tight sands for the production of natural gas will intensify the need for hydraulic fracturing systems that are less damaging to low permeability formations. Finally, despite a retreat from the lofty prices of 2007 and 2008, oil and gas prices are expected to remain historically high in the coming years, which will encourage new drilling and efforts to maximize the output from marginally producing wells.
