Society of Sound Music – Bowers & Wilkins

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Summary: High-quality music download service from Bowers & Wilkins offers more albums in even better sounding formats. Specially recorded exclusive albums now available in super high-fidelity 24-bit. Bonus albums and back catalogue mean members pay less than $3.15 an album. Albums recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios.

London, England—Bowers & Wilkins is famous for making digital music sound better than you could ever imagine thanks to its multi-award winning Zeppelin iPod speaker. Now with Society of Sound Music, it’s offering an alternative to poor quality MP3s with wonderful sounding lossless downloads. Members can download a selection of music specially recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in a choice of three exceptional high-quality formats.

Society of Sound Music (formally B&W Music Club) is celebrating its first birthday, and has dramatically changed the benefits offered to members. It still gives members an exclusive, stunningly recorded album every month to download, but members can now also access a selection of previously featured albums for the first time, which brings the price of membership down to below $3.15 an album.

Users have the choice of three high-quality lossless music downloads, all of which package the tracks for convenient download, but unlike MP3 they are indistinguishable from the original recordings when they are played back. Apple Lossless is perfect for copying to your iPod or burning to CD, as is 16-bit FLAC for non iTunes users.

But the quality bar has been pushed even higher with the introduction of 24-bit FLAC. These incredibly high-quality music files get listeners closer than ever to the sound the artist heard in the studio, and can either stream it via a computer, or burn onto a DVD to play on a home system.

Since its launch in May 2008, Society of Sound Music has brought members a wide variety of different musical styles, all from exceptional artists: Gwyneth Herbert; Dub Colossus; former Suede frontman Brett Anderson; guitarist Tom Kerstens; Mercury Award nominees Portico Quartet and an exclusive lossless EP download from Eurythmics star Dave Stewart. Future releases include the new album from the hotly –tipped Dengue Fever, a band that blends Cambodian pop music with West Coast psychedelic rock.

Platinum Tools® Introduces CCP Series J-Hooks

Monday, June 1st, 2009

MOORPARK, Calif., June 1, 2009 – Platinum ToolsÒ (, the leader in solutions for the preparation, installation and hand termination of wire and cable, is proud to announce the introduction of the new two-inch J-Hook. Designed to support today’s high performance voice/data cable, fiber optics, coax, and flexible conduit, the Cable Cage Polypropylene (or CCP) Series J-Hooks (P/N’s: CCP32-100, CCP32W-100, CCP32AC-100) feature a smooth pulling design with an integral latch for stress free cable support. One- and three-inch hooks (CCP16 and CCP48) will also be available by July 1, 2009.

“CCP Series J-Hooks combine a steel design with a unique polypropylene over-mold to significantly reduced fiction when pulling bundles of cables,” explained Lee Sachs, Platinum Tools, Inc. president and general manager. “Ultra smooth cable pulls decrease the physical stress on the cable during installation, which is paramount for high speed data installations, and also greatly reduce the incidence of cable burns when pulling long distances.”

Unique to the new patent pending CCP Series J-Hook is a molded in bail latch to quickly lock cables in place. Simply bend the tip of the J-Hook around and latch it onto the locking tab to assure cables stay in their runs. Cables can be latched and unlatched hundreds of times without extra parts or fumbling with cutting cable ties.

“The CCP Series J-Hooks are great time savers for installers,” added Sachs. Faster cable pulls, no burned cables, and the integral latching mechanism all combine to provide the installer with a more robust product that will definitely increase the bottom line.”

Designed for use in plenum environments and typically used above suspended ceilings or below raised floors, these components allow for customized cable spacing support and horizontal to vertical changes in direction. Made from galvanized steel with a yellow zinc chromate finish, the CCP32 is for mounting to walls, the CCP32AC is for mounting to ceilings, and the CCP32W is a batwing design for mounting to ceiling wire or threaded rod. All come in 100 piece cartons.

Now shipping with an MSRP starting at $205.42/100, the CCP Series J-Hooks are perfect for the cabling industry and have been designed for a broad range of telecom and network voice/data, security, satellite, CCTV, fiber, flexible conduit, residential structured wiring, whole house and custom install A/V, and professional and commercial A/V applications.
