MartinLogan Ascent Electrostatic Speakers

May 20, 2003

MartinLogan, the loudspeaker technology company, announces the introduction of the Ascent i Hybrid ESL (electrostatic loudspeaker). Ascent i builds upon the foundation of the hugely successful Ascent loudspeaker by incorporating a myriad of design innovations. These include a Generation 2 stat panel featuring ClearSpar technology, improved low-end performance, 3/8" Prodigy ETC (energy transfer coupler) spikes, and enhanced cabinet and stator finishes.

The world's most accurate transducer-the patented CLS (curvilinear line source) MartinLogan ESL-has advanced to a new level. The Ascent i's new Generation 2 stat panel incorporates a reformulation of our conductive coating and a new plasma deposition process. This refined thin film technology provides improved impedance tolerance and maximum adhesion and abrasion resistance. ClearSpar™ technology enhances Ascent i's transparent look and increases both efficiency and dynamics.

The Ascent i also features a new state-of-the-art aluminum woofer that delivers an accurate low-end response capable of detailed and deep low frequencies. To further enhance Ascent i's performance, extra sturdy 3/8" Prodigy ETC™ spikes are provided for tighter, better defined bass, cleaner, more micro dynamic resolution, and improved imaging and focus.

MartinLogan's breakthrough hybrid speaker engineering maintains controlled dispersion and outstanding dynamic range while minimizing destructive room interaction. Ascent i maintains its high frequency response and flawless precision with new advanced crossover topology, audiophile grade components and point-to-point wiring. Ascent i's custom designed components, along with its electrostatic and dynamic drivers, all combine to provide the highest levels ever of transparency, linearity and seamless integration.

Embodying the look and breakthrough technology of its contemporaries in the MartinLogan line, Ascent i features advanced construction techniques including specially designed stator supports and a composite headpiece for maximum stator rigidity and astonishing clarity.

The Ascent i leverages all of MartinLogan's engineering, design and manufacturing prowess-delivering staggering value in this handcrafted CLS hybrid. Enhanced cabinet and stator finishes, standard on the Ascent i, include an attractive, tougher new semi-gloss black cabinet finish and new shimmering, dark gray Meteor colored stator (the front and back perforated steel electrostatic panel elements). The Ascent i is available with a variety of hand-finished trim options and is supplied with bi-wire high-resolution, toolless binding posts for effortless cable attachment and management.
