InFocus ScreenPlay 7205 DLP Projector

September 6, 2003

Building on two years of success and innovation in the home projection market, InFocus* Corporation (NASDAQ:INFS), the worldwide leader in digital projection technology and services, is announcing today a preview of the InFocus ScreenPlay*7205, its newest home projector for the custom and install market that delivers the most stellar image found in a single-chip DLP(tm) projector.

The ScreenPlay 7205 continues the InFocus commitment to provide the CEDIA channel with a family of products that deliver the best in cinema-quality performance. "The ScreenPlay 7205 is the latest example of how InFocus continues to exceed expectations for home theater projection by delivering outstanding video projection performance without compromise," said Scott Hix, Vice President and General Manager of InFocus Business Development. "The ScreenPlay 7205 is proof positive of our dedication to provide what our CEDIA partners want: the finest projector performance for their customers.

InFocus now has a family of home theater projectors that deliver the greatest experience in home theater." In the two years since InFocus entered the home theater projection market with a pledge to be the best, they have delivered with a vengeance. In the last twelve months, the company has launched three new ScreenPlay projectors, expanded the market for home projection to new audiences and received numerous industry awards for achieving the highest levels of performance, including the CEDIA award naming the ScreenPlay 7200 "Best Video Product of the Year."

The ScreenPlay 7205 is built on the award-winning platform of the ScreenPlay 7200 and boasts improved performance and enhanced features that make it the premier choice of home theater. Primary among these image improving features is more contrast through inclusion of the new "Mustang" HD2+ from Texas Instruments(r). The HD2+ features improved planarity for increased brightness and contrast and reduced pixel structures, resulting in the highest contrast and brightest DLP device ever. To achieve of the truest, most natural color, the ScreenPlay 7205 has a custom-designed seven-segment, 5x wheel that provides more bit depth for smoother images and comes calibrated to the D65 color mastering standards used by Hollywood, so installers spend less time calibrating the projector.  Committed to delivering the absolute best products, the ScreenPlay 7205 comes with enhanced Faroudja DCDi, the FLI2310. The FLI2310 improves the movie theater experience of front projection with a new 3:2 to 2:2 pulldown conversion circuit, which converts 60 Hz video to the same refresh rate as film projectors, eliminating the uneven image stuttering seen with NTSC video.

Rounding out the new features is the addition of an InFocus 35mm lens. For increased installation flexibility, the 72mm standard filter thread can be used for color filtering applications or neutral density, allowing the use of smaller screen sizes. The introduction of the InFocus ScreenPlay 7205 follows closely on the release of two other members of the ScreenPlay family of products. The ScreenPlay series is designed to suit the needs of nearly every customer who demands true movie-theater quality at home. The InFocus ScreenPlay 5700 offers a premium blend of performance and price while offering native 16:9 resolution that doesn't compromise the onscreen image. In August, the ScreenPlay 5700 was named 2003-2004 European Projector of the Year by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA). Launched in May, the InFocus ScreenPlay 4800 is a compact and powerful projector geared to first time consumers trying front projection to increase the entertainment
experience of DVDs and video games.
