"Good God!" is a double disc set on heavy vinyl with the aforementioned essay. That's it. If you're burnt on the mainstream, check out what the folks at Numero are doing. They've got a ton of great releases spanning many different eras and genres...

I've always been fascinated by revolutionary political movements. Maybe I'm drawn to the theatricality of it as I have absolutely no personal frame of reference for what it feels like to take extreme political action.

If there's another band in the world making more authentic old-fashioned rhythm and blues music, I don't know about it. Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings have the market cornered. They're still making songs with "Parts One and Parts Two."

Bruce Springsteen is a tricky one, huh? I love the guy and his music, but most of that musical love centers around four or five records from a short era in the 1970's. And none of them sound as good as they could have, but they all sound a damned site better than anything he did in the '80's.

There are some bands that I feel obligated to like. Or at least to try liking. I was a big Black Crowes fan as a kid. Saw them tape the live version of 'She Talks To Angels" as a 14 year old in Atlanta. Thought they were the greatest rock and roll band of my time and that they were gonna save the whole institution...

Almost two years ago exactly, we took a look at 4 Men With Beards' reissue of "Dusty In Memphis" by Dusty Springfield. I hadn't quite learned how to shop for vinyl reissues then. I'm a little better equipped to know what I'm looking for now.

Anyone paying attention knows that I'm... uh... "concerned" about the current state of popular music. The primary indicator is that I'm constantly having to reference one of a small handful of bands that are making new...

One of the last times I had the good fortune of seeing R.L. Burnside live and in person, I was crashed out on his hotel room floor in Atlanta at 8AM with a raging hangover and little recollection of the previous night's show. His drummer/grandson...

Becoming an Elvis Costello fan was one of the least likely events to have occurred in my life. Thanks to Mobile Fidelity, I now have approximately $150 worth of Costello goodness
