There's a theater in Oakland, California called the Paramount. It's one of a few remaining "movie palaces" from the 1920's and '30's. It's Art Deco down to the exit signs and the bathroom fixtures.

I don't know tons about him, and I haven't even scratched the surface of his recorded output, but I find him to be one of the most intriguing personalities in the history of popular entertainment. Certainly a master of American entertainment and certainly a giant in the history of jazz.
