Theta made the first digital to analog converting component, the DS Pre, in 1988, when no one had made anything like it. We saw the need for outboard digital-to-analog converters (eventually others did too). We also made the first separate DVD transport units, and the first modular updatable/upgradeable surround sound processors and amplifiers. In many ways, theta's Casablanca controllers are still unique; a "product category" of one.
