(Las Vegas, NV, January 4, 2006) – Gennum Corporation, a leading developer of broadcast-quality image processing solutions, announces the launch of the GF9351, a new low cost Image Processor with Visual Excellence Processing™ (VXP™) technology. The GF9351 provides industry-leading image processing for next-generation video and graphics demands, especially for 1080p HDTV displays.
The GF9351 is the latest addition to the Gennum family of image processors powered by VXP technology and provides a significant reduction in power consumption and cost over previous generations of high-end image processors. The GF9351 enables VXP technology to be deployed in systems where heat dissipation can be a problem, especially high-definition flat-panel TVs and home theatre projectors. Pin-out, package and software compatibility with the GF9350 allows an easy upgrade path for existing customers and enables a single, high-end image processing platform for a wide range of consumer electronics products.
VXP technology, pioneered by Gennum, delivers enhanced features made available by fourth generation broadcast-quality algorithms:
· TruMotionHD™ 1080i®1080p adaptive de-interlacing for optimal image sharpness and resolution.
· FineEdge™ dynamic directional interpolation to eliminate jaggy artifacts found in traditional de-interlacing algorithms.
· FidelityEngine™ image enhancements for removal of unwanted noise and improved detail and uncompromised image quality.
· RealityExpansion™10-bit image processing for eye-catching natural color.
“Gennum’s expertise in video algorithm development and experience in analog/digital integrated circuit design has enabled the development of an industry-leading combination of performance, power and price with the GF9351,” said Dan Turow, Director, Image Processing Products at Gennum. “The GF9351 continues in the Gennum tradition of integrating broadcast-quality scaling, de-interlacing and image enhancement solutions optimized for consumer electronics platforms.”
