Technical description
The cinemateq 5.0 soundsystem "natural" consists of four identical front and rear speakers on the basis of sound pillars, a language optimised centre speaker in conventional loudspeaker design and an active subwoofer (optional). Contrary to conventional loudspeakers the sound pillars of the cinemateq 5.0 soundsystem “natural” are not restricted to one-directional sound emission. Owing to the patented sound conus the sound evenly disseminates 360 degrees into all directions – in the exact same way as sound is generated in nature. Reflecting the sound, walls and ceilings form a totally natural sound field.
The sound characteristics distinguish themselves by their spatiality, resulting from the fusion of direct and the indirect sound field. No matter where seated in the room the listener will experience the exact same tonal character and an authentic surround sound. In order to counterbalance spatially caused "bass holes" (position dependent "sound extinction" produced by standing waves), the cinemateq 5.0 soundsystem "natural" uses the "corner loaded" bass concept optionally combined with an additional subwoofer. Thanks to four bass reflex woofers integrated into the sound pillars “in each corner of the room” an even bass stimulation of the whole room can be achieved already without an additional subwoofer.
The uniqueness of the sound pillars consists in the resonating air pillars and resonance areas for the woofer emitting sound downwards as well as in the sound cone for the midrange and high frequency transformer, working as follows: The central tone cone located at the upper end of the sound pillar irradiates its sound energy perpendicularly upwards against a custom-shaped reflector, whilst the dome-shaped tweeter directs the sound perpendicularly downwards against the top side of the reflector. This sound lens results in an omni-directional distribution of the acoustic energy into the whole room, covering an angle of 360 degrees. The outcome is an acoustic experience which comes very close to the one in a live concert, in an absolutely stress-free, unostentatious atmosphere.
