Where To Find Us:
CONCOURSE “A” -- Our largest exhibit features two systems, including:
ML2.1 power amplifiers (new), L2 Reference line-stage preamplifiers, LP2 phono preamplifiers, Tannoy Autograph Pro speakers, Siemens Bionor speakers, American Sound EMT 927 turntable, SME 3012-R tonearms, Weiss Medea D/A converters, Cardas loudspeaker cables, interconnect and power cords, Acoustic Dreams racks and stands
Room 641
This room includes Lamm M1.2 Reference amplifiers, L2 Reference line-stage preamplifier, Walker turntable and phono preamplifier, Shelter or Magic Diamond cartridge, Kubala-Sosna cable, Kharma 3.2FE loudspeakers, Kharma Ceramique subwoofer, Ginko Audio racks and bases.
Room 643
Here you’ll find the Lamm ML2.1 power amplifiers, LP2 phono preamplifier, L2 Reference line-stage preamplifier, Walker turntable, Shelter cartridge, Kharma Midi Exquisite loudspeakers and Enigma cable, and Ginko Audio racks and bases.
New Model: The ML2.1 is a full-scale update of the ML2. The new amplifier features important upgrades and modifications, including:
• Upgraded power transformer accommodates 100-230V mains operation
• Modified output transformer
• Upgraded key parts and materials now available in the global marketplace
• Upgraded pc-board material is of the highest available quality
• Additional pair of handles on the rear
• Heavy-duty speaker binding posts
The ML2.1 is a single-ended amplifier representing a new generation of high-current, low-impedance triode power vacuum tubes (the 6C33C) used for both the output stage and voltage regulation. These big triodes allowed an output transformer with a very low turns ratio for extended frequencies and dramatically reduced leakage inductance.
The ML2.1 has the advantage of every modern technology in a package reminiscent of the revered vacuum tube era. Each amplifier is carefully constructed and handcrafted with the finest materials and parts, some of which include military-grade low-noise DALE metal film resistors; ELECTROCUBE and ROEDERSTEIN film capacitors; high-frequency switching-grade CORNELL DUBILIER and UNITED CHEMI-CON electrolytic capacitors; HAMMOND chokes; gold-plated NEUTRIC XLR connectors; and military grade low-noise long life vacuum tubes. Special attention was even paid to the encapsulated toroidal power transformer.
A custom-designed output transformer, a unique output stage, and a high-current regulated power supply allows the ML2.1 to drive most real world speakers and deliver sonic stability under most all dynamic conditions. Although the ML2.1s can drive most speakers, their full potential is best realized with speakers of 94dB sensitivity or more.
Updated Models:
The M1.2 Reference (replaces M1.1)
Our 10th year anniversary also marks a pair of updates for the M1.2 and M2.2. The original M1.1 was unveiled at ‘93 Summer CES, where it received the Innovation ’93 Award. This was followed by a score of very positive reviews over the years. The M1.1 and M2.1 (a more powerful version of the M1.1) remained in production for 10 years without any changes or updates. Quality lasts. While it was difficult to make these amps better when introduced, the recent availability of better quality parts and components, along with the performance data we collected over the last 10 years, warranted this major update..
The M1.2 Reference has been upgraded to 110 watts in pure class-A, and represents the top of the line in Lamm hybrid audio technology. It’s a pure class-A amplifier, except for the output stage, which operates in a highly biased A/AB mode. The M2.2 incorporates high-speed MOS-FET transistors in the output stage with no overall feedback. There’s a special switch-selectable bias/voltage setting for 8 or 4 Ohm operation. This switch assures the pure class-A operation of the M1.2 Reference when matched with a speaker load of either 4 or 8 Ohms.
Conventional class-A designs double the power into 4 Ohms, resulting in one fourth of the doubled power in class-A with the rest in class AB. (Learn more about this in the FAQ section of our website:
www.lammindustries.com/faq/switch.html.
The M2.2 (Replaces M2.1)
M2.2’s output has been raised to 220 watts, the first 41 of them in pure class-A. We’ve also fitted them with 230V taps to work at 100-240V, 50-60Hz. A special switch-selectable biasing circuit maintains the optimal idle current of the output stage for all load conditions between 1-16 Ohms. As a hybrid, it carries a single specially selected 6922 vacuum triode like the M1.2 Reference.
Both Amps:
We also totally redesigned the high and low voltage power supplies for the front-end in both amps. A few critical parts were upgraded to now-available higher specification items. And we made changes to the output stage and the main pc-board, the material of which is of the highest quality available today.
As a result, we feel, we’ve achieved even greater refinement with added reliability and durability for our 10th Year Anniversary. That’s a very nice present!
