Good day from Scull Communications.
Founder and president of Tetra, Adrian Butts is one of those lucky individuals consumed by love of music. And reproducing it in the home or studio. He put the time in; there were years in retail culminating in his own store. Ultimately, he admits, despite wide exposure, he wasn’t happy with any of the many speakers he’d auditioned. “I just couldn’t stand the unnatural, bloated bass of many box speakers, or the thin highs of many electrostatics,” he explains. “But I knew what I wanted; a speaker with the speed and silkiness of the best electrostatics, and the dispersion, drive, and harmonic fullness of dynamic speakers. Is that asking too much?” He smiled.
Tetra has always benefited from the balance between enclosure design and Adrian’s orchestration of drivers and crossovers. It’s the delicate balance of these three key elements that imbue Tetra speakers with clarity, detail, harmonic fullness, plus expansive, room-filling ambience. The sweet spot is wide, come on in!

Tetra 505LTD
You Are There
Room 649 features the 505LTD, the largest speaker we make. It features Tetra’s tetrahedral top module. It’s an equilateral pyramid, one of the strongest structures known to man. Standing waves all but disappear as the inside angles don’t support or allow them to propagate. It’s elegantly styled with full front and partial rear baffles of solid cherry wood. There’s extensive bracing, and it’s all made with a full 1" MDF.
The 8" Morel NeoLin woofer features Neodymium Damped Polymer Composite for excellent power handling. Its startling dynamics allow for clean and crisp sound at high volumes. The 1" ScanSpeak tweeter is characterized by a very smooth and slightly rising frequency response.
President Adrian Butts explains, “We design with simple, elegant crossovers and low parts count. Using 12dB per octave roll-offs, the drivers run conservatively within their operating range. Crossover points are cherry-picked by the design team.
We tested and chose Châteauroux Polypropylene Solen Fast Caps and Hepta-Litz Air-Cored inductors for our speakers. The crossover is hard-wired point-to-point, there’s Cardas internal wiring and gold-plated rhodium binding posts. The 505LTD is an easy 8 ohm load at 91dB sensitivity (2.83Vrms @ 1 meter).
Tetra has always benefited from the balance between enclosure design and Adrian’s orchestration of drivers and crossovers. It’s the delicate balance of these three key elements that confer Tetra speakers with clarity, detail, harmonic fullness, plus expansive, room-filling ambience. The sweet spot is wide, come on in!
The 505LTD is available in a durable satin black or a deep high gloss finish. The front and rear cherry-wood baffles are available in red or natural colors. Custom colors are available upon request.
The 505 is supplied with light weight custom dust covers that secure magnetically to the baffle. We also provide solid brass cone footers, and adjustable bi-wire jumper plates. The 505LTD sports two sets of Cardas Gold/Rhodium binding posts to allow for bi-wiring or -amping.
The 505LTD is recommended for medium- to large-sized rooms with an MSRP beginning at $8,000/pr USD.

120U
Have It Your Way
Tetra’s Universal Use 120U, the most versatile speakers we’ve ever turned out. They’re at home in a small- to mid-size surround system, or your stereo speakers of choice in a 2-channel rig. They can be wall-mounted with custom brackets, placed on a bookshelf, or set up on stands for even better sound.
The 120U is Tetra's first truly universal speaker. Our special enclosure design with sloping front baffle minimizes internal standing wave colorations, yielding a startlingly lifelike soundstage projected well out into the room. It features an innovative top-side port designed to make use of the wall behind it if stand- or bracket-mounted.
The Tetra 120U is designed around quality, fully-shielded SEAS and Morel drivers, chosen for their neutral tonal balance, dynamics, and compact size. We use a 5” Polypropylene woofer from SEAS, and a 1” Morel soft dome tweeter.
The crossover is a simple, custom-made, ultra high quality capacitor on the tweeter… and that’s it. Beyond that, you’ll find Cardas and Litz internal wiring, and an easy to drive 89dB sensitivity at a benign 8 ohms.
Tetra has always benefited from the balance between enclosure design and Adrian’s orchestration of drivers and crossovers. It’s the delicate balance of these three key elements that imbue our speakers with clarity, detail, harmonic fullness, plus expansive, room-filling ambience. The sweet spot is wide, come on in!
The 120U is available in satin black, red cherry, natural cherry or white. It’s supplied with strong, lightweight custom dust covers that magnetically secure to the speakers’ front baffle. Near-flush-mount brackets with rubber isolation pads are now available that hold the 120U far enough from the wall to prevent the wall from resonating, and to leave room for speaker cables.
The Tetra 120U is recommended for small- to large-sized room (use as many as you like!) at an MSRP of $675/each USD.
