Eric,
In the "In Use" section you will notice that I reference my Denon AVR-2309CI (with a link to the review here on Secrets no less) and I originally included pictures of my Paradigm Studio 20s v.3 (which didn't make it into the final review, my apologies), which I have mentioned multiple times in past articles. The playback device was a PS3 and an Oppo 980HD playing SACD, redbook and 360mbps files. - Cory

While exposing readers to choice (i.e. bringing to light manufacturers not normally covered in the glossies) is great, if the intent is to inform to the point of narrowing down a WIDE selection of speakers to a handful the reader should try to audition (preferably in home) then the review falls short. Perhaps I missed it but the full set of reference gear should be listed at the outset of the review. Nice comparisons to the reference speaker were made but exactly what were the reference speakers? Going further, having a reference set of bookshelf speakers (in my book at this price, PSB MS2s, Paradigm S2 v2, Usher Be-718, ACI Sapphires etc.) to compare against would be very instrumental in helping readers to understand what the speaker sounded like in COMPARISON. Certain reviewers (JEJ etc) seem to list their ancilliary equipment at least. Can we make this a standard baseline at hometheaterhifi? - Eric
