Oh yes.
Used so far a Philips DFR-9000. Outputs all selected sources (if necessary downmixed to stereo) to SPDIF on coax.

Reason for replacement is the unreliable volume control (mechanical pulse encoder) and HDMI 1.0 (compatibility).

The 747 has a compatible Crystal ADC on board ..... - art

You would need to have the receiver use an ADC (analogue to digital converter) to make this happen and I don't think the 747 is equipped to do so. I don't know of any receiver that is so equipped. - Paul

Why can't I get digital output when listening to FM-radio?
I sometimes want to use this output to record radioprograms on my computer.

video loss with NAD 747

I have the same video loss problem as was described in this thread by "Tom Mutton". Was there a resolution for this?

I have the same symptoms, but it happens with my cable box on HDMI 2. I only lose video, not audio. As far as I can tell, it does not happen with my other HDMI or analog devices. - Jesse

I am looking to get one of these receivers in the next couple of weeks, being that they are around the same price here I'm wondering what would be the "best"? I have KEF Q1's L & R, IQ2 C, B&W 2001 Rears and Paradigm PS 1000 sub, any comments welcome.

I haven't had the Yamaha XA800 in my system. I personally really liked the NAD T747 a lot. I don't think you could go wrong with it.

Yamaha XA800 vs NAD T747

Hi, I'm upgrading from a cheap dennon system and are considering the two amps above. Price is a bit higher for NAD but believe audio quality should be much better. Interested in movies/music, don't need the 2 hdmi outputs from Yamaha, the 3D support of Yamaha could be interesting in the future, not now. Haven't found enough reviews on the Yamaha.. Thanks for your help. (speakers are pbs image series) - Nathan

I have a KEF KHT3005SE Speakers connected to a Denon AVR1909, I like to watch more concerts than movies, like 65% bluray concerts and 35% bluray movies. Do you think if I get a NAD T747 will better the sound quality? I have a Oppo-83 bluray player. - alexalanis

I should start by saying that I am a big NAD fan, and considering to buy the T747. I would really like to know how does it compare with the Cambridge Audio 650R, which has gotten some really very good reviews? I am also undecided regarding the Oppo BDP 83 SE or the Cambridge Audio 650BD, again both with very good reviews...I watch mainly opera DVDs and soon Bluray...
Also undecided about KEF 2005.3 K2 or a KEF set IQ70+IQ60+IQ10+2500...Thank you for your advice...

To restore your NAD T747 to its factory defaults:

Select FM mode, then press and hold front panel’s LISTENING MODE button until the VFD shows “Factory Reset”.

This will restore the Video Format Resolution “Auto”.

Hannes:

Here is the procedure to reset the receiver . . . "To do a factory reset for North American versions, first go to FM input. Then press and hold the Listening Mode button on the front panel for several seconds. This will wipe out all your settings (bass management, FM presets, input settings, etc.)."

I hope this will work for you.

Martin N - The B&W M1 speakers are not musical speakers, they are satellites - get some full range speakers to match your T747 and I am pretty confident that you will change your mind regarding the above comments. - phh

Analog performance sucks

I own the Nad T747 together with the BluRay. It has an outstanding performance when I play a bluray music disk in TrueHD, but when playing an ordinary CD I think it really sucks, it sounds nearly like an old kitchen radio. Since I'm not a big movie freak I must say I´m quite disappointed with this setup. I use it together with B&W M-1/Pv-1 system.

Sorry guys I cannot recommend it. - Martin N

It is Good

Bear in mind that many "100 watt" surround sound receivers can't produce half their power rating with all channels driven. Just check the bench test results in Secrets or other competent mnagazines.

The T747's rating is honest, but not very different from typical, competing receivers. This is one thing that set NAD apart from some of the other manufacturers. This receiver produced a more than satisfactory sound at least 99% of the time. I thought that it had a very nice sound and would recommend it to people with typical sized rooms.

Like Chris L., I encourage you to go audition it!

It's all about how good it sounds

My NAD 325BEE integrated amp is rated at 40 watts per channel and it drives my Martin logans fine effortlessly and the volume knob is only at at the 9 o'clock position.

Don't worry about if a NAD receiver is able to drive your 4 ohm speakers because it is more than adequate. I have used Denon, Onkyo, Pioneer Elite, Marantz but i always end up going back to NAD because of it's sound.

Sometimes it's not always about the features but it's the quality of sound. Go and audition it! - Chris L

For what I see its a good unit but still worried that the 60 watt output will run out of steam very quickly. Just how good is this receiver anyways when compared to others like the 767, 775 and 785? What are your opinions? - Garry Mitchell
