I got the equivalent 876 (also the 906), and they can drive my 4-ohm speakers easily.

Onkyo/Integra are the best value out there in A/V Receivers & Surround Processors. They are back with a vengeance since 2007, and there is simply no stopping them.
Seez you Yamaha, Denon, Pioneer Elite, Marantz, Nad, Rotel, Arcam, and all the rest of the gang.
Onkyo/Integra has you all beat up at your own game.
Kuddos to them.

Bench test?

From your bench tests it seems that you are suggesting to use mainly 8 Ohms speakers with the DTR-8.9!
I tought this receiver, which is the equivalent of the Onkyo TX-SR876 are rated for 4-Ohm loads!
Aren't they THX Ultra2 Plus certified?
Also I tought the MSRP was $1,999.

If all my speakers are 4 Ohms, would I be better to get the Integra DTR-9.9 or the Onkyo TX-NR906?

Extremely happy with my 8.9. Just connected it with an Oppo BDP-83 via HDMI, and very impressive soundstage on DVD-A and SACD discs, rivaling (if not surpassing?) my current reference player, the Integra DPS-10.5. - Eric Porres

I just replaced my Yamaha RX-V 3300 with the DTR 8.9 and I'm very pleased with it's performance. I did so only because of the newer technologies. The sound is very clean with music or DVD/Bluray discs. I really wasn't looking for an AVR with as many features that the 8.9 has but I'm having fun using them(can't say as much for the neighbors). I had a few questions and when I contacted Integra's C/S people they were outstanding and the best I've encountered. I look forward to many years of enjoyment with the DTR 8.9 and tip my hat the the people at Integra. - Roland
