TV Series on Blu-ray

I'm so glad shows like Lost and Heroes are being released on Blu-ray. Since they are made to almost a cinematic standard, they really deserve the hi-def presentation. HD broadcasts over cable and satellite are of inconsistant quality at best. And the audio is so much better from disc as well. Heroes even included their sound track in DTS Master Audio! Now if only the prices would come down! - Christian Eberle

I discussed the quality of the animation, not the quality of the disc. The animation in Madagascar is nowhere near the quality in a Pixar film. I can't comment on the use of particular software such as RenderMan, but Madagascar characters do not have the three-dimensionality of those in a Pixar film. As to the quality of the disc, if you mean was it sharp and was it without edge artifacts, the answer is yes. But, nothing stood out as exceptional. Of course, I think we are all beginning to get a little jaded with the continued great picture and sound that Blu-ray movies have started delivering on a regular basis. - JEJ

Pixar?

Unless this film used RenderMan, I'm not seeing the Pixar tie-in to a Dreamsworks production?!

Care to elaborate or clarify? The technical review says nothing about the quality of the disc so it's pretty much useless to anyone interested in buying it.

Hmm. - Troy

Well, if the original had 6 track magnetic track sound, it must have deteriorated, because the stereo effect is very weak. It sounds artificial. - JEJ

Sleeping Beauty

I saw Sleeping Beauty some years ago when they screened a restored 70mm Technirama print of it So my understanding is that the sountrack would have been originally 6 track magnetic and the Roadshow print in 2.21:1 70mm. - Brian Ming
