Tyler, actually the engineering decisions are far from questionable, there are many respected companies which use solid hardwood, Sonus Faber for one. it can be a different approach from MDF, but that does not make it wrong. many designers like myself have the opinion that a stiff cabinet is more important than a damped cabinet. although if it's done right you can have both and you can do it with either material.
(hardwood is about three times as stiff as MDF.)
as for longevity, i founded this company sixteen years ago building solid hardwood speaker enclosures. they are used all over the world, many of my professional customers ( ie: Lou Reed ) have toured the globe for years with them... and there has never been a problem with the cabinets! again it's all about how you do it. an amateur in his garage may not have very good luck using real wood, but then i had twenty years of professional woodworking experience before i even started this business, so it's not just luck.
as for the center design, again, there is more than one way to do something. the off axis response is very good, different designs suit different drivers and crossovers.
if you'd like to hear these, you may do so at the next RMAF show in Denver. after all the only thing that counts is the sound.

While I certainly can't debate any aspect of how those speakers sound, as I have never heard them (or seen any measurement data), there are certainly some questionable engineering decisions.

Wood is not as well damped as MDF, although they at least use birch plywood on the baffle. I would be worried about longevity of such a cabinet as well.

More importantly the driver layout on the center channel is one-of-a-kind, and for good reason. That layout will result in some very nasty off-axis behaviour all throughout the midrange. I would really like to hear from the manufacturer how they decided whatever pros of that approach outweighed the very significant cons. - Tyler
