I think that capturing vinyl (or any audio track) to DVD is a matter for the DVD authoring software to handle. I would expect those programs to work with a variety of sample rates. Haven't tried it though. - Rick

Answers from Benchmark's Applications Engineer

The recommended connection between unbalanced sources and the balanced input of the ADC1 USB is a balanced cable that has pin-3 of the XLR connected to the sheild of the RCA connector (e.g., http://www.benchmarkmedia.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=44&products_id=88&osCsid=680a4a0a378dd20735a1247bd0bc0da7).

The ADC1 USB has truly balanced inputs.

The ADC1 USB is capable of the following sample-rates: 192, 176.4, 96, 88.2, 48, and 44.1 kHz.

All the best,

I was wondering if the Benchmark samples at the sampling rate consistent with the 96khz, 24 bit DVD standard. If so, could you burn a DVD of your vinyl? - Rob Taylor

I was using my GCPH connected to my regular preamp (Simaudio P5.3). I used the (unbalanced) tape outputs to connect to the Benchmark. At RMAF I asked the good folks at Benchmark if the ADC was truly balanced or if it simply had XLR inputs. It's the latter which is pretty common for pro audio gear. - Rick

How did you get the signal from your turntable to the XLR analog inputs? - TTT
