In reference to "Laid Back?", you have to be careful in assessing the sound as being laid back or forward in terms of whether the frequency response is the reason, or the amount of distortion. A good speaker can sound laid back if you are used to listening to speakers that have higher amounts of distortion coming from the tweeter, which is what happens sometimes with inexpensive metal dome tweeters. - JEJ

ml, my assessment is that in the critical mid-range the 10s are ever so slightly behind the 20s regardless of being high passed or not.

EWLS, that's interesting in that from my experience over the years and feedback from many others, the Studio series ~in general~, when placed in typically (overly) live home spaces, is thought of as being on the "forward" side if anything at all. Plunk them in a more acoustically responsibly space though and they fall into more or less perfection in this regard. - Brian

Would you say the Studio 10's are "laid back" or "forward"? I've auditioned the Studio 20's V4 in the past and found them laid back (which I did not like). - EWL5

"...struggle to produce wholly satisfactory bass while the ‘oh so critical’ midrange I believe is just ever so slightly behind the larger Studio 20s. It’s just as if someone barely touched the perfectly focused lens of a camera..."

Studio10, so when used with sub crosover @ 80hz are they in focus? or ... - ml
