Just got it.....

I just got it and its not a bad BD player. It has known problems with 4 BD's but I can live without these so its not a big deal.

You can get it know for $100 refurbished if you look around. - TThekraut

Just replaced my Samsung BD UP 5000 from a 12/07 build with a 1/08 build.
Amazing difference.
Apparently they've replaced the motherboard with a new design. It rocks! - Gerry Perkalvich

I am glad you are getting them in.
I expect high praise for their video output from my experience.

I just wish all these players were faster like the PS3. - TV

Samsung warranty (or lack thereof)

SAMSUNG does not warrant (i) disc compatibility with new and existing format discs or (ii) error free playback in full compliance with specifications of the compatible disc formats. Buyer beware! - Scott Higgins

Samsung blu-ray players

These players are clearly not ready for the consumer market & are far from glitch free. Note their warranty (or lack there of) " SAMSUNG does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the product" I don't think it's responsible to consumers to promote these products (via reviews)that aren't warranted to perform to specifications. This 3rd generation product still can't play 1st generation discs without problematic performance. My BD-P1400 has motion glitchs/errors with every blu-ray disc, even with the latest firmware updates.(covered under warranty?, NO)If this player sold for $99.95 it would be overpriced & it's build quality is about appropriate at that price point. It's a stinker & that should be clearly said! - Scott Higgins

We have requested the new Denon Blu-ray players for review. They will be full HD Benchmark reviews, including HD Benchmark tests, along with the audio bench tests. - JEJ

You are correct. The test results on the Samsung BD-P1400 reported here are only for SD, not HD (Blu-ray). We are just getting into the HD Benchmark tests now, due to reasons discussed before, and will publish our first Benchmark review on a Blu-ray player when we get our next Blu-ray player. Right now, the next Benchmark review in the que is for an SD DVD player that we are just about finished with (Adrian Wittenberg's first Benchmark review), so the results are obviously only for SD. - JEJ

Just to be clear: Do the video test results and observations above pertain to SD DVD playbook, and not Blu-ray? - infominister
