Via HDMI would you say there is any difference between this and the S350/BD35 in terms of picture quality?

I've heard anectdotally in both directions... - anon

Although Blue-ray players will eventually rule the market, as Kris mentions in the review, they are still not where they should be. Please continue to review the sd-dvd players... especially the ones that us family oriented users can afford!

That said, based on last year's review of the Sylvania 1000f (no longer available) I purchased the replacement. I did take it apart including the upside down video board. Unfortunately the replacement has Panasonic chips in it. I guess I will return it!

Thanks for the reviews.

IIRC, JEJ stated in the 983 thread that OPPO's Blu-Ray offering would not be until sometime in 2009. That's quite a bit away. (But probably close to when I'll start actually investing in Blu-Ray.) - Josuah

It seems as though they are getting ready to enter the Blu-ray market. If they can get SD-DVD playback as good as my 970 and give me good Blu-ray playback, I'll be happy. - Keith Benedict
